Big C Food Court Rip-Off

Of course there's an expiration. Might be a week or month or a year, but they need to reconcile.

There is no expiration on many cards such as Lotus food court, Rabbit card for skytrain etc.  It is just an electronic wallet for money

That's a blanket statement

This guy was allegedly caught out.

I could swear this happened once to me as well. I always cash in, but sometimes forget. I tucked the card in wallet and forgot about it. It went null. This was eons ago so....

Anyway, not here to bicker about it.

Even at newly renovated Ratchada Big C fc high noon it only takes a few mins to cash in or out. There's usually a woman doing cards for b100 on the side as well to expedite

Some people just overcomplicate their lives.

Easy pass money will also expire after a certain amount of time.  I forget how long, 1 or 2 years.

45 days is kind of generous, maybe because of the amount.

Don't think I've ever received a card more than 30 day, usually much less, 7-10-14 days.

More like 30 minutes

I only put money that I need for that particular item.

And retrieve the remaining balance from the cashier before leaving.

Decide exactly what you want to order.

Order it.

Then while you are getting the card, they will prepare it for you.

So you can put the exact amount on the card. And when you're done paying, your meal should be ready.

Should demand that Big C inform each and every cardholder by phone or mail when cards are up for expiry..

Never crossed my mind to use a food court card for more than an hour.

Seems unusual.

There must be a valid reason why they put an expiry date of 45 days on those cards, but I can't think of any reason.

I would complain to the head office somewhere. Maybe look up the phone number online.

Go into Big C demanding to speak to a head honcho.

Tell them to at least justify where this expiry date comes from and tell them you didn't know.

The back of the card is all in Thai? Tell them you can't read Thai.

Maybe try this form and see if someone gets back to you.

It is a recent change. I usually got the balance back each time I used a Big C Food Court card, but was very surprised a few months ago when I found an old card and it was still current. From then I kept the card and just toppe dit up each time. Then a few weeks ago after not visiting for some time my card was invalid under the new regulation. I only lost about Bt 50 but just get cash back each time now. I have no idea where you would find the "small print".

While you're at it, don't forget to tell them that if they don't give you back your money plus a never expiring card you'll never eat there nor shop there or in any of their brunches and that you'll tell all your friends about it and it will be very bad for them. Very very bad. For them.

That'll show them!

Not a rip off.

Customer error.

I'm sure he learned his lesson.

You may think it's fair because you have other 30-day cards in your possession, but it's still your own money, and you're proving that you're a regular customer.
I find it highly reprehensible and consider it a form of theft.

Nevertheless, I would lodge a complaint with Big C and request that they provide a valid reason for confiscating your money after 45 days without prior notice.

At the big food court all the meals are paid for by card. But if you want a soft drink at the counter next to the food counters you have to pay with cash.

Probably some logic in there but I can't see it.

I agree & disagree ...

... You'd think a regular customer would know the policy

... BUT, I'm sure there's and entry, that could have simply transferred it to a new card, so you, the cashier ripped you off.

Did you ask if that is the policy with food court manager ???

Think I would feel better if it was the policy, tough sh!t, it's on you, rather than the cashier was a thief.

There is no need to keep the card if you put the exact amount you need for a meal.

I just get a new card every time I go, which isn't too often.

I guess if you are there regularly, it becomes a hassle to top up each time?

But there is no need to keep the card. You can top up a new one every time with the exact amount, so you won't need to worry about losing the card or the card expiring.

You need to wait for the meal to be prepared anyway, so I don't think it's a hassle to top up with the exact amount every time.

Have fun in the Big C food court, kids !!

I once had 4 cards for various reasons, had to leave country for family problem, came back 3 months later and cards didn’t work, nice lady at counter typed something in and added all four cards to one new one, smiled and said I needed to add ‘something’ so it will work, added 500 baht and all was well.  So it is possible.      After that I made it a rule to always cash out after eating, I might not be so lucky the next time.

BTW, I once had a couple Rabbit Cards, 2 years old, they were caught in storage, was able to use them without a hitch

You should buy a lottery ticket Sir,your the luckiest boy I have known
