Non-Immigrant O Visa Multiple Entry – Changes in Savannakhet

Featured Replies

Dear Community,

I am married to a Thai and, in recent years, I have always obtained a Non-Immigrant O Visa with Multiple Entries from the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet or Ho Chi Minh City. This kind of visa was valid for one year, with the requirement to leave the country every 90 days. This arrangement suited me very well, as I travel frequently and leave Thailand every few months anyway. I also enjoyed the short trips to Laos or Vietnam much more than applying for the marriage visa inside Thailand.

My current visa will expire in January 2026. While planning my next application, I noticed that several things have changed. On the e-Visa Portal the Non-Immigrant O Visa now appears to be valid for only 90 days, and I could not find an option for a one-year Non-O Visa with multiple entry as before.

Am I correct in assuming that this visa category is no longer available?
Is there still any way to obtain a one-year Non-Immigrant O Visa based on marriage with multiple entry, either in Savannakhet or at another consulate?

Thank you in advance for any insights or experiences you can share!

Not available, plus, it is all done online now, even for a 90 day visa, and takes 3/4 days to get.

Plus, you must show 400,000 in the bank on the day of application for the 90 day visa....😒

As pointed out above... the Non O multiple entry Visa valid for a year is off the table.

You can obtain a Non O single entry that provides a 90 day stamp.

The only options to extend the 90 is either a 12 month extension or a 60 day extension to visit wife.

Note if you opt for the 12 month extension there is no necessity to exit during your permission of stay however if you wish to then buy a reentry permit.

1000b single or 3800b multiple.

All depends on ongoing plans re living in Thailand.

Dr. Jack, the 12 month extension and reentry permit - application being made at one's local Immigration office? And assume with sufficient time remaining. Is any supporting doc required for either? As for 90 day reporting, that means both in-person at an Immigration office, or online (is it working?) Thanks :)

12 month extension is done at local immigration office.

Yes has requirements in the main financial compliance.

The reentry permit can be obtained at immigration or at airport on day of departure.

The reentry permit has form TM8 and photo and basic copies of pp.

At airport they offer optional service fee to do form, photo, etc 200b

12 month extension can be done up to 30 days prior to stamp expiry (45 days at some offices) and up till expiry date.
