Where to volunteer in Thailand

Featured Replies

I´ve been wanting to volunteer in Thailand for a while now and I'm looking for somewhere safe and where I can help out but also have some free time. Do you know any places that would offer me a place to stay while volunteering? Ideally it would be either in Chiang Mai or near Khrung Thep, but anywhere is fine.

It seems the rules for volunteering in Thailand are getting stricter.

We occasionally have German girls that volunteer through a christian organization at an orphanage stay at our dormitory accommodation for a year.

They have always had to have a visa and work permit, and now have to report to Immigration on their activities periodically, which includes photos of them in the work place.

You could contact the excellent charity

https://friendsofthaidaughters.org/

who operate in the north.

"""somewhere safe"""

and where I can help out but also have some

"""free time""".

Do you know any places that would

"""offer me a place to stay"""

while volunteering? Idea

To me, because of the post exact wording, seems like someone wants to EXTEND their stay in Thailand at NO COST  ( """free time & offer me a place to stay"""  ) under the "theory" of volunteering.

If you had started the post with 'I am on a extension of stay' I could possibly believe you. I  could be wrong.

Yes - the words sponger/ponce spring to mind. I want to volunteer but I want far more out of it than I am actually prepared to put in. As long as I'm allowed to stay in the country at minimal cost then that suits me fine.

What makes you think that Thailand needs your help?

Ring the bell in one of the thousands of beer bars and you will instantly be on the road to helping a village in Isaan. Thank You for your service.
