Nations Hesitate to Send Troops to Gaza, Fearing Clashes With Hamas

Diplomats and other officials from several countries who are familiar with the situation say there has been little progress on when the force might be assembled because of confusion over the force’s mission, which appears to be the most serious stumbling block.

Representatives from several countries seen as likely participants have said privately that they will not commit troops until there is more clarity about what the force will be expected to do once it arrives in Gaza, according to according to discussions with people familiar with the talks.

Their main concern is that their troops should not be expected to fight Hamas militants, some of whom remain heavily armed, on Israel’s behalf.

So seeing as Biden and his fans here on the forum said it was his peace deal, is it now Bidens fault it might fall apart? Think carefully before answering🤣

Now that the Israelis have all their living hostages back they will use not returning the dead ones that were blown to smitherines by friendly fire and are under piles of rubble as the excuse to start the genocide up again and block aid.

I am surprised Hamas fell for it.

I suspect Trump fell for it too. As did his fanboys here. But in Trump's case, I'm not surprised at all. Nor that his fanboys did.

The ceasefire brokered by the Biden administration lasted less than 2 months. Let's see how long this one will last!

It's the same rope-a-dope used on every US president for the past 50 years.  For a problem that has been around since the time of the Old Testament.

I recall that in the lame-duck days at the end of his terms W was all excited about ending the conflict -- yeah, right.

So much for an orange Peace Prize.

Like you, I strongly oppose the peace initiative led by Trump and hope it fails. The last thing we need is for him to claim a victory.

In my opinion, the western european anti semites want the cease fire to fail, so they can spew jew hate and keep the numbers of brown people down.

You do know that hamas exists for one reason and one reason only, right? To destroy and kill their neighbor and no other reason. Mitigating this fact by any measure is in support of those murderous thugs, which by all appearances to be the thing of the left.

I am completely indifferent about this issue.

And so what? If it creates peace in the region, the price tag of a few brown envelopes and some greased palms is worth it IMHO.  I mean, you ARE dealing with Arabs. It is the way of business over there.

Where is your evidence that the Israelis died because of friendly fire? Dozens of wounded  Israelis were dragged back to Gaza on October 7. The wounded were denied access to medical care and died. Others were murdered.

You appear to want the war to continue and for Hamas to continue with its attacks.

I wasn't aware that the Trumps were Arabs

I mean, honestly now, given the history of that region, did anyone REALLY   expect this was gonna work?

here you go..

Three Israeli hostages mistakenly killed by soldiers in Gaza on Friday had used leftover food to write signs pleading for help, Israel says.

The men had been staying at the building next to where they were shot "for some period of time", according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Who created Israel and why?

The official narrative sounds strange

They claim it was for a "safe haven" after the Holocaust.

But how could it be a "safe haven" if they are surrounded by a bunch of Arab countries that want them dead and they are fighting for occupied land?

So first try to find out why it was created in the first place. Did they accomplish what they set out to accomplish? If not, why would they back down now?

Maybe check the Bible for clues.

Approximately 75 hostages were killed on Oct. 7 or during their captivity. 3 escaping hostages were indeed shot in error by the IDF. It was not intentional.  3 out of 251 hostages. Hardly a  basis for you to make generalizations.  They  would not have been shot had they not been taken hostage. They died because  of Hamas. 3 dead does not  mean that all of the Israeli hostages who died were because of IDF fire.  Hamas and others intentionally took the bodies of the dead, dying and wounded on October 7 to hold as hostages.

It is easy to  point a finger at troops in combat situations who mistakenly kill or injure others. Unfortunately, this is a direct result of  combat. You won't appreciate how difficult it is to identify and confirm targets  in a combat zone until you have been in one.  Personnel are taking hostile fire, they are under pressure and sightlines are obscured by dust and debris.
