UK Troops sent to Israel As Western Forces Anchor Gaza Ceasefire

UK Troops Deployed To Israel As Western Forces Anchor Gaza Ceasefire

British troops have been quietly sent to Israel to help monitor the fragile Gaza ceasefire after a direct request from Washington, with the UK taking what Defence Secretary John Healey called an “anchor role” in a new multinational force.

Healey confirmed that a senior British commander — a two-star officer — and a small team of military personnel are now embedded within the US-led Civil Military Coordination Centre (CMCC) in Israel. The officer will serve as deputy commander, working alongside American forces and troops expected from Qatar, Egypt, Turkey, and the UAE.

The deployment marks a striking policy reversal: just 10 days ago, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper told MPs there were “no plans” for British boots on the ground. But Healey, speaking at a London event on Monday, said the UK would “play our part” by lending expertise without taking the lead. “Britain will play an anchor role, contributing specialist experience and skills where we can,” he said.

The mission’s urgency grew after the Trump-brokered ceasefire faced its first major test. Over the weekend, two Israeli soldiers were killed in a Hamas attack, prompting the IDF to unleash what it called a “massive wave” of retaliatory airstrikes across southern Gaza. Health officials there said at least 45 Palestinians, including children, were killed. Both Israel and Hamas later reaffirmed their commitment to the ceasefire.

A Ministry of Defence spokesperson said: “A small number of UK planning officers have embedded in the US-led CMCC, including a two-star deputy commander, to ensure the UK remains integrated into post-conflict stability efforts in Gaza.”

The US has committed up to 200 troops to the mission, intended to stabilize the region and prevent another collapse of the truce.

Key Takeaways

  • UK deploys senior commander and small military team to Israel for Gaza ceasefire monitoring.

  • Britain to take “anchor role” under US command in multinational peace mission with Arab partners.

  • Move follows deadly truce violations in Gaza as Trump-brokered ceasefire faces its first test.

And who will the British troops be supporting?

Themselves, the US troops, the IDF, or as a last resort will they be supporting the Palestinian civilians?

The politicians in the UK have got the troops into this mess as they usually do, I wonder how far they are willing to go to properly support them.

Are they and the US troops in Israel to stop the trigger happy IDF killing Palestinian civilians?

They sure as hell aren't going into Gaza.

Speaking of which, how does the 21 point plan propose to disarm Hamas?

Typical, Israeli soldiers get killed and they go after the kids instead of funding the culprits who actually killed the soldiers.

They make me sick.

School holidays Mr Angry, time to look after the grandchildren. No time for the laptop.

Still, term begins on November 3rd so I'll be back posting about the latest Israeli violence in the West Bank and Gaza strip.

When have I ever posted anything positive about Hamas?

Quite frankly, this is a terrible mistake.  Any country sending troops to Gaza will just be exposing them to danger for no good reason.  They will be viewed by both Hamas and the IDF as potential targets.

As I recall, "Brits on a peacekeeping mission" is how this whole mess kicked off over 80 years ago...

What's that saying about learn from your history or you'll just repeat the same mistakes?

i just read an article by the NYT that supposedly the terrible "Lamas" was planning this attack for over a year and the Israel's intel knew about it.  It reminds me of the the UK and American special forces doing some military exercises in that area a few months before of the supposed terror attack.  Just wonder where they are going to rebuild the third temple. Maybe by the end of 2030? Agenda 2030.  They are waiting for the messiah return. Bibi promised Rebbe that he would make it happen. After the 2020, starting in 2023, we have the seven  years of tribulation. Remember the ten plagues of Egypt.  Just wonder when Bill Gates will block out the sun and we will have three days of darkness. Scary....

Three days of total darkness

250px-Spanish_15th_Century%2C_Massacre_of_the_Firstborn_and_Egyptian_Darkness%2C_c._1490%2C_NGA_3930.jpg Spanish 15th century, Massacre of the Firstborn and Egyptian Darkness, c. 1490, hand-colored woodcut

Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward the sky so that darkness will spread over Egypt—darkness that can be felt." So Moses stretched out his hand toward the sky, and total darkness covered all Egypt for three days. No one could see anyone else or leave his place for three days.

I mean school holidays for the grandchildren, Mr Angry, not for me. I retired years ago.

I have condemned Hamas several times in posts.

It's very boring reiterating that criticising Israel does not equate  supporting Hamas.

Feeling in two minds now that America has put "boots on the ground" in a war zone, as promised by the President in his pre-election promises.

Um, wait a second...

Whats to stop an IDF Soldier shooting a brit or a Yank soldier and blaming it on Hamas to carry on flattening Gaza.

That's all good news.  But it's the collateral (?) damage that's making Israel an international pariah.  They'll be fighting their newly created enemies for another century or so.

The World realises that there are civilian deaths in every war .

Who are these newly created enemies that you speak  of ?

By my count, Israel has bombed 7 nearby countries in this latest flare up.  (Plus or minus one or two.)  They're hardly endearing themselves to the young people who were on the receiving end of those bombs.  That's how they're creating "new enemies".

They are hardly new enemies, are they .

Israel retaliated after THEY attacked Israel first

Israel bombing them will stop them attacking Israel in the future .

(P.S, the Dubai attack was targeting the Hamas leadership)

Not as long as the US supports them. If that ever ceases, then yes, they may care if only for self preservation.

The US will always support Israel.
