Moving every 6 months

Featured Replies

Do any of you retired single expats move countries every year or so ?

As big Kev used to say ..."Im excited !!!

What a dream to say live.3 months in Siem reap...then Da Nang in Vietnam then Cebu in the Philippines, then Udon Thani

What a retirement dream !!

My retirement dream is to live in Thailand for 6 months then Cambodia then Vietnam then Bali ,then in the Philippines probably Palawan or islands

I know Simon on here moves every 3 months or so , I will probably move the same as him to live the excitement

Bali seems to be more popular for retirement,of course Vietnam is second popular followed by Duamagette Philippines

Do any of you nomads do this or do you just sit in your 21sqm rooms in Pattaya bring depressed

Of course if your married your stuck !

Life is moving guys ....

I guess it can cost if you have a lot of things

But look at the excitement

New place ....new city ...new culture

Oh, what absolute paradise that would be. I honestly can’t imagine a more perfect way to live. You should definitely go for it, Georgina, and don’t forget to post plenty of photos so we can all vicariously share in the tremendous amount of amazing fun and joy you'll be having. <removed>

NO, I still have to mop my floor

I'm moving next month to Vietnam for 2-3 months. I need to do a border run to re-activate my visa, so I just stay in the location several months and take my time.

Why rush back? I'm sick of Pattaya anyway.

The good thing is that living in the West no need for visa runs, no need for Visa extensions

When will you be retiring George ? , don't leave it till your 65 , too old then , good luck

regards worgeordie

sounds like hassle to move around in retirement, the beauty of retirement visa is that that is over with once 50

But travel is fun...

It keeps you young..

So you don't become an antique in your own home.

You could also spend equal amounts of time on the other forums more appropriate to your varying locations

Simon who ever he is ,,may well have mixed opinions about you following him to different countries, It would maybe be polite to ask him first, but you should be prepared for disappointment, I'm sure none of us on here would want  you to get "hurt,"   The resulting threads would be unbearable

The dream of all dreams. Hovering around with some 6 months tourist visas all over S/E Asia.

Until the day comes, when some hospital staff somewhere asks for your international health insurance card. No have?

Confiscating all your other cards including all that's left in your wallet.

A truly great "exit", remaining relatives dodging any ensuing post mortem costs. Amen.

If I were ever to get depressed sitting in my 21sqm room I’d just go sit in another room in my condo, or go sit on the balcony & gaze out over Wongamat Beach or jump in a car & go to Koh Larn, Samet, Chang etc…

As you seem to be somebody who by their own admission is on a limited budget, I’d respectfully suggest living in multiple counties might be outside of your resources, if I were in that position I’d concentrate on finding a nice room somewhere outside of the more expensive areas where I wouldn’t get depressed even if that meant moving up-country (I quite like Udon Thani).

For tax reasons, I will be spending <180 days in Thailand next year, but it’s my 60th Birthday year so I’m probably going to spend a lot more money than I would if it were any other year… Looking at 1 month in Maldives. 3 months split across UK & Europe, 2 months in Bali… figure it’s going to cost at least £10K per month but you’re only 60 once so why not.

You won't be going anywhere without drama. Best to stay in Sydney.

What difference does being married make?

Not very inclusive Georgie boy/girl.

Certainly travelling like that is an answer if you get bored easily in one place, eventually you'd get bored of the travelling and choose i place most likely

You want someone tagging along with you

I would rather be single thanks very much

Hey, if you have the money ($$$$$$$), "DO IT" and have "FUN!" Good Luck.

A lot of women will be happy to hear that.

Trust me, carpets are bad. They will put your mopping skills out of business and into forced retirement.

Oh, Georgina, you definitely don’t want any of that. What you really need is to go back to Manila, settle into your fabulous retirement, and call it a day. Just grab yourself a $100-a-month flat (shared toilet? please, you’ve done worse) and spend your golden years riding the Metro Manila underground at midnight like it’s your private runway of desire, hunting for gay hook ups with that signature sparkle in your eye. Honestly, that was the only time any of us ever saw pure, unfiltered joy radiating from you.

Hardwood floors and rugs for the win.
