That's exactly right. I learnt from previous visits that my monthly expenditure is the same as back home, it's just you get a lot more for your money. So before I came I set up various streams of income. Five to be precise, as I was mindful that some could fall away, so I always had some in reserve to ensure money could still come in.

Sorry, but your idea that you can decide what is a "legitimate" relationship is frankly ludicrous. Of course it's a legitimate relationship. In essence she wants a relationship, A very normal and legitimate one. And she wants a household allowance of 500 bucks. All perfectly normal and very similar to how husbands or boyfriends pay household allowances in the UK.
