Two Chinese nationals were arrested in the early hours of October 28 after police and administrative officers raided two condominiums in Pattaya, seizing crystal methamphetamine, BB guns and thousands of illegal vaping and tobacco products. The arrests followed a drug rehabilitation case involving a young Thai woman who confessed to taking drugs with Chinese in the city.

At around 01.30, Bang Lamung District Chief Patcharapatch Sritanyanon authorised Nattawarat Sophonsawetsilp, a district officer, to lead a joint operation with Immigration Police, Pattaya City Police, and territorial defence volunteers. The operation aimed to expand an ongoing investigation into foreign drug networks active in the Pattaya area.

The operation was initiated after a Thai woman voluntarily entered a drug rehabilitation programme under a policy of Chon Buri Governor Narit Niramaiwong. She provided information that she had joined drug parties with Chinese nationals who were involved in both using and distributing narcotics among fellow partygoers. Acting on this intelligence, officers conducted surveillance at a condominium car park in the Jomtien area of Nong Prue, Bang Lamung District.

Authorities observed two Chinese men exchanging illegal drugs and moved in to arrest them. The suspects were identified as Mr. Ruipeng Lian, aged 33 and Mr. Yong Qi, aged 46. Officers discovered 49 grams of crystal methamphetamine in a zip bag and a sum of cash in their possession.

A search of their condominium room uncovered further evidence, including drug paraphernalia, a small zip bag containing an additional 0.49 grams of crystal methamphetamine, a BB gun and a digital scale. Investigators later searched another condominium in the Naklua area, finding approximately 2,000–3,000 Marbo-branded e-cigarettes, more than 200 cartons of Chinese cigarettes without tax stamps, and numerous Chinese-language business cards advertising “genuine cigarettes.”

Through an interpreter, both suspects reportedly admitted that they obtained the drugs and vaping products from a Chinese associate in Bangkok to sell to foreign tourists attending parties in Pattaya. All seized evidence and the two men were transferred to Chon Buri Immigration Division (Pattaya checkpoint) before being handed over to investigators at Pattaya City Police Station for legal proceedings.

Authorities stated that the arrests form part of a wider crackdown on foreign drug and contraband networks operating in Chon Buri province, especially those linked to nightlife venues and party tourism.
