City Hall-CCTV control-I want to view my bike accident

Featured Replies

Has anyone managed to get them to let you view CCTV there?

Had an accident Friday 24th close to, and just past, the traffic lights Pratumnak Hill/Thappraya road South bound.

Not a clue what happened, one minute I am driving, the next I am standing on the North bound side with my bike  with blood on my face, and grazers on all four limbs, no one else seemed to be involved

Did not hit my head as confirmed by CT scan, got a police report, and the bike insurance paid for my treatment, but would love to know what happened

  • OK, City Hall very helpful, but I think you would need a police report to go there, first thing they asked me for   Not going to post the video as I don't want it all over the net

  • Sounds ominously like the OP got hit by a drop bear.   Be careful out there.

  • Unless you pay the right chap in brown uniform, as a falang, chances to get any justice in a road mishap (or even other court litigations)  are close to Nil in Thailand.

Ask them.  I have been able to view many videos in shops just be politely requesting.  Failing which, pay a cop a thousand baht, and get him to go with you.  Be ready with your camera video set on recording, because getting a copy is often difficult.

You definitely can, you just need to find out who has the video, be quick they may write over it in a few days

Had my rear window smashed and leather suitcases stolen from an underground carpark in Amsterdam.

The CCTV was pointed right at it, but the police said I would have to pay 400 Euros to view the video.

Hope you have better luck.

Many years ago a group of us went to Amsterdam and couldn't find our hotel after spending many hours in various coffee shops

Ended up going to the train station for a sleep and woke up and my friend had his Nike Air max trainers stolen straight off his feet while asleep

luckily i had some rank converse trainers

Found the hotel about 11,30am next day and told to check out

Don't know who voted you down, it was not me, thanks for the reply, OP

Have a look around the area, small business, shops, apartments.

I reckon you'd have more success asking a local business owner for footage from one of their CCTV cameras

Not looking for that, already insurance has paid for my treatment, just want to know what happened, as I have no memory of the accident, been driving  a bike here for 30 years on and off, and it was my first one

Do the police need City Hall permission to view CCTV?  That may be the reason they hardly use it till after an event.

So, you had a single accident, and you don´t know what happened? You really need to see that video. 😉

Anyway, It sounds on you that it was manageable. Lucky it didn´t turn out worse.

Mythical creature from Australia. Like the Jersey Devil from New Jersey and the Chupacabra from Puerto Rico, Texas and Mexico.

Aliens strike again.

Pattaya resident left dazed and confused.

Have you checked for anal probes?

They probably took a DNA sample.

100% my fault, trying to get across to the u-turn to go south, an oncoming bike with a Thai couple hit me, I must have miss-read their speed, they both came off as well, I look like I was conscious the whole time, but can't remember anything I saw on the video, a police bike was there also

The couple, looks like the guy got me up and helped me and the cop wheeled my bike across to the side, even looks I was talking to them. Crazy its all a blank.

I am on the left

@Seppius: this sounds like at least a very serious concussion you had there.

You mentjoned medical treatment, but if you had such a long blackout of an episode you were conscious and acting normally, even five days later I would go to the hospital once more and have this checked out, so that there are not more serious issues like a brain bleed etc.

I am not a medical professional, BTW, just a lay mans opinion.

That is weird.  You probably had a head injury they missed at the hospital. I've had two accidents where I blacked out and have no recollection of what happened and both were caused by head trauma.  One of them I woke up in a ditch 4 hours after (confirmed by my GPS) without  a scratch on my body. The brain can slam against your skull and your head doesn't have to hit anything.

Happy you and the others involved are all good 🙂

With bribes much gets done in Thailand but that is totally illegal.

Having city hall showing him a traffic camera recording of his own accident while he was in posession of a police report? Why would that be illegal?

Mrs got her bike accident put onto a USB drive in Bkk from the local office, nothing to see much as it was a bit out of view

Thank you, going back for final check at the hospital on Friday, so will talk to them about it, but been fine so far. My normal mad self.

I was very lucky, and also very relieved the Thai couple were ok.

Gee. The train station zone  has been the  high crime, scummy part of the city for at least 50 years.  I  spent a lot of time in Amsterdam in July and August this year and had no issues, but then I stayed in the primarily white and Christian parts of the city. My only problems were with certain non residents, otherwise I had a wonderful safe time walking through ouid zuid to Rembrandtplein to Leidesplein. My  afternoons spent in sunny Vondelpark were a delight. An expensive city, but one that I thoroughly enjoyed.
