Loy Krathong celebrations proceed in Thailand but with a respectful tone

Event organisers and communities plan to tone down festivities and avoid overly exuberant displays out of respect. Some public activities will still proceed, such as floating lanterns and river ceremonies, but with reduced scale and simpler format. Authorities emphasise that the tradition remains vital for cultural continuity but must align with the broader context of respect and reflection. Residents and visitors alike are invited to join in respectful participation while bearing in mind the solemn national mood.

I'd like to suggest, as a mark of respect, they ban all alcohol sales/consumption for the entire festival.
