Two specific queries regarding retirement extension

Featured Replies

(If I post this on the tail end of a previous topic, I'm afraid it won't get noticed. Apologies.)

The "shopping list" supplied by Nakhon Phanom IO lists two things I'm unsure of. Any clarification gratefully received.

"Financial evidence about income and bank deposits ..."

Does this mean I have to show where it comes from? My bank statement doesn't list sources, just amounts and dates, so what evidence can I give? (My only income is monthly pension, and has been since I moved here - I don't get a statement with my pension).

"Copy of the Thai people ID card" Does this mean the ID of the holder of the house book, my wife?)

The rest seems clear enough. Thanking you in advance, etc.

Are you using income method?

If so you need 12 month bank statement.

Ask for it in Thai language.

The foreign transfers should then show money from abroad in Thai script.

Yes. Signed

What exactly are you applying for - a 1 year extension of stay?

From where, and how are you transferring your pensions?
You require evidence of 12 x overseas monthly transfers.
Which Thai bank do you use?
Some Immigration offices request evidence the income comes from a pension.

Signed copies of the wifes Tabien Baan and ID card if she owns the house.

Thanks for the replies, understood about ID card, but the first question remains unanswered (or at least, unclear to me).

Money in the bank (ie not monthly income), lump sum 800,000 baths. Been there for years, never dip (dip ... baths ... I'll see myself out) into it, no problem.

As the subject line says, retirement extension (ie yearly extension based on retirement). Yes, I'm changing from marriage extension, but that doesn't seem to be an issue.

Here's what is unclear to me, again:

"Financial evidence about income and bank deposits ..."

Does this mean I have to show where it comes from? My bank statement (Krungthai) doesn't list sources, just amounts and dates, so what evidence can I give? (My only income is monthly pension, and has been since I moved here - I don't get a statement with my pension, but the bulk of the account was a transfer of personal bank savings from my now defunct UK account made a dozen years ago, or thereabouts).

Thanks again, compadres.

No you don't.  Bank statement, bank letter and updated bankbook on the day of application.

Using money in bank method (800k) you do not need to show where funds came from.

BTW if first change from marriage to retirement the wife will need to attend immigration with you.

Thank you again. It's not easy (as we all know from experience) trying to get precise, consistent information from the local IO. Or the rest of Thailand, for that matter. Still, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else and love it here!

That refers to using the monthly income method, whereas you are using the funds in the bank method.

Whatever income you may transfer as living expenses are immaterial.

You are using clause 4, funds in a Thai bank for your extension.

Thank you. I'm having this tattooed across my chest for when I rock up to Immigration!

I don't even buy black pens anymore.

to answer your specific question.   I am a Canadian I have access to my Government account I pulled up the two pages that indicate the  amount of each pension and printed them off. I have a  RRIF pension and had the company send a print out of the payment then I went one step farther and had the Embassy certify it, although not really required. My Brit friend said it was also quite easy to get same info

All I ever turn up with at CW, previously Soi Suan Phlu, Sathorn,  for a retirement extension is the completed application form, my passport plus copy, my bank book with 800 k plus copy, and a letter from the bank confirming the validity of the bank book. Never been asked for nothing else.
