Police have arrested 21 Chinese nationals and two Thai citizens after uncovering an international scam operation in Saraburi Province. The raid followed a distress call from a foreign tourist who reported being detained in a locked room. The operation, carried out by the Tourist Police Bureau, is part of a nationwide crackdown on scam networks and efforts to enhance safety for foreign visitors in Thailand.

On October 28, 2025, at around 12:30, officers received an urgent alert through the Thailand Tourist Police Application (TPB App) and the 1155 hotline. The caller, a foreign national, reported being confined with others in several locked rooms at an unidentified location in Kud Nok Plao Subdistrict, Mueang District, Saraburi. Using the GPS coordinates provided, authorities launched a rapid response operation.

The Tourist Police, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Saksira Phueaka-am, Commissioner of the Tourist Police Bureau, ordered an immediate investigation. The operation was conducted by officers from Tourist Police Station 2, Sub-Division 2, under Division 1, in coordination with Saraburi Provincial Police and Immigration Police. The team, led by Pol. Lt. Col. Pattanaphong Siricharoennam, Chief of Tourist Police Station 2, and Pol. Lt. Thananwat Tangsi, Deputy Inspector, entered the premises and detained the suspects without resistance.

Inside the building, police found several foreigners allegedly held against their will. Investigators believe the location was being used as a base for online scam operations targeting victims across Asia. Officers arrested two Thai nationals suspected of providing logistical support and 21 Chinese nationals believed to be members of the scam ring. All suspects were taken into custody for legal processing.

Authorities are now examining evidence seized at the scene, including computers, mobile phones and documents, to identify the network’s wider connections. The operation reflects the government’s commitment to suppressing transnational cybercrime and ensuring the safety of both residents and tourists in Thailand.

In a statement, the Tourist Police Bureau encouraged all visitors to download and use the Thailand Tourist Police Application (TPB App). The app allows users to request assistance, report emergencies, and contact the 1155 hotline at any time. Officials emphasised that rapid reporting is crucial to preventing crimes and protecting victims.
