Police in Ayutthaya are pursuing a man who allegedly shot his younger brother three times following a family dispute involving their wives. The shooting, which took place in front of their mother at a motorcycle repair shop, left the younger brother seriously injured. The suspect fled the scene with his wife in a white Toyota Vios, prompting a police manhunt.

The incident occurred at around 19:00, on October 30, 2025, when Police Lieutenant Nattadanai Burihan, deputy investigator at Uthai Police Station, received a report of a shooting at a repair shop on Rojana Road, Lat Thanu Sub-district, Uthai District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. He arrived with Police Colonel Manas Addoddor, the station superintendent, along with patrol officers, investigators and rescue volunteers from the Phutthaisawan Foundation.

At the scene, rescuers found Mr. Thanont, aged 43, with three gunshot wounds to his back. He received emergency first aid before being transported to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Hospital for urgent treatment. A single 9mm lcasing was found near the shooting site and collected as evidence.

According to the victim’s mother, Mrs. Janya, aged 72, she was sitting with her younger son at the time when her eldest son, Mr. Athibodi, aged 45, entered the shop and began arguing with his brother. The quarrel quickly escalated, reportedly stemming from ongoing conflict between the two wives, who frequently clashed and caused tension between the brothers.

The heated argument culminated in Mr. Athibodi drawing a firearm and shooting his brother multiple times, causing him to collapse in front of their mother. The suspect then fled in a white Toyota Vios with his wife before police arrived.

A nearby resident told officers they heard gunshots but initially thought it was rain hitting the roof. When they stepped outside, they saw the victim’s mother crying for help and immediately contacted the authorities.

Police have documented the scene, gathered forensic evidence, and contacted relatives of the suspect to encourage him to surrender. Officers confirmed that legal proceedings will be pursued for charges of attempted murder and illegal possession of a firearm.
