Thailand Adds Jan 2, 2026, to New Year Holiday for 5-Day Break

Its good for the people visiting family upcountry for the new year holiday (31st and 1st) and don't want to drive back late on the 1st to be at work for the 2nd... now they can enjoy a couple more days with family and drive back on the 4th.

I was wondering how it was a 5 day holiday, not 4 days. Your post has cleared that up, thanks. I wasn't sure whether 31st December was a holiday or Monday January 5th was. The dates have fallen well this year - nice for some to have an extended 5 day break and make it a worthwhile trip to see family.
