Python Crashes Through Ceiling and Eats Kitten

A python crashed through a house ceiling in Nonthaburi and swallowed a Scottish Fold kitten belonging to a police officer. The incident marks the second time in two months that the same home has been invaded by a large snake.

At around 07:30 on 2 November 2025, emergency responders from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre in Nonthaburi were called to a residence in Bang Yai district. The homeowner, Pol Lt Rachanon Jaidet, an officer with the Internet Crimes Against Children division, reported that a massive python had entered his home, apparently targeting his pet cats.

Rescue personnel, identified as Wirot Boonthai, 52 and Buppha Ampuang, 53, arrived at the scene to find the python coiled behind a washing machine. The reptile was aggressive, repeatedly trying to strike at officers attempting to capture it. After a tense struggle, rescuers successfully looped the snake’s head with a snare. Its visibly swollen abdomen suggested it had already devoured one of the kittens.

Rachanon said he kept eight cats, five adults and three three-month-old kittens. A day earlier, he had given away two kittens to a friend, leaving only one male Scottish Fold at home. On the morning of the incident, that kitten was missing, leading him to believe the python had entered through the ceiling to eat it.

The officer added that a similar incident had occurred in August when another large python fell through his ceiling but failed to catch any cats. He expressed shock that a snake had returned, noting that his home may be near a nesting area. “I’m lucky I gave away the two kittens yesterday,” he said, “or the snake might have eaten all of them.”

Authorities plan to release the python back into a safe, natural habitat away from residential areas. Local animal control teams have advised residents in the area to secure their ceilings spaces and check for structural gaps, as recent flooding and heavy rains may have driven snakes into homes seeking shelter.

Key Takeaways

• A python broke through a ceiling and ate a kitten in Nonthaburi.

• It was the second similar incident at the same home in just two months.

• Officials warn residents to inspect homes as snakes may enter during rainy conditions.

The folded ears are due to a genetic mutation that also causes other potential issues in their later life.  Scotland isn't known for its in-breeding; I'm surprised it isn't called  an Arkansas or Norfolk fold... 😹

BTW, I have cousins in Arkansas (not in-bred).

Lucky to be a Thai snake; if it was Florida, some hot babe in booty shorts would be putting a suppressed .22 through its head for Instagram clicks and a sale to the boot makers.

Appalachia was largely settled by Scots and Micks (according to Thomas Sowell).  But while Scotland and Ireland largely advanced, not so much the ones that settled there in Deliverance country.  They learned the banjo...

Wonder what snakes are lurking in our attic…

Thanks for the Deliverance of this history 🪕

If it were my cat/kitten , I would have killed the snake.

He was an officer and probably had a gun ....

Maybe where you live. Earlier this year we had 3  pythons in the space of a few weeks. My wife and her sister bagged the first  one and released it some distance away. The other 2 were up the trees after the chickens, they got the local authority to take them away.

Despite what many may think the Thais have a reluctance to kill wildlife, may be different for those from neighbouring countries.

Hope the snake was taken back to the wild. He was doing what was natural.

That serpent would be devoid of a head if it had eaten an animal that belonged to me, protected species or not

Of course...The typical American disregard for nature; cowboys shoot first and think, if at all, much later.

Of course, the typical stupid, uniformed and trolling  comment of the non American unfamiliar with the ecological crisis in Florida caused by the introduction of Pythons into the Everglades.

Bet you would be scared to do what those booty shorts girls do.

They have snake on the menu of some places here. Little ones. Probably lots of little bones.

I cannot see the shape of a kitten in the top photo.

Very observant of the Officer to say that he thought the snake had come through the ceiling. There's a 4......g great hole in it.

City dwellers maybe not, but the rural Thai will eat wildlife in the blink of an eye

Those girls are amazing. Shows you dont need to be sticking things in yourself on Only Fans for sure to make money. Did you see snakeskin is the fashion now in the big cities?

You know it will be mainstream when Ruger does a Pink Snakeskin Camo Integrally Suppressed .22 and its on the cover of a gun mag.

Those big snakes are worth about $600 each in skin and bounty.

You know whats big bucks? Gators. The guides for Gator Hunting make a fortune. There are some hot gator girls.

Doesn't get any more rural than where I live, but that's central, bit different  to the north where the population is mainly from neighbouring countries.

My wife's niece, when she lived here, used to go to the market and buy turtles and crabs , to put back in the sea.

No, she didn't eat them first.

Although waste disposal is one of the downsides throughout Thailand.
