Russian Drug Gang Spreads QR Codes Across Phuket

A Phuket Member of Parliament has raised alarm over a sophisticated new drug trafficking operation using QR codes placed around the island. Chalermpong Saengdee, MP for Phuket Zone 2 from the People’s Party, revealed that foreign nationals have been distributing the stickers in public areas and tourist spots, linking unsuspecting users to online drug markets. The scheme reportedly involves cryptocurrency transactions and GPS drop points for drug collection, allowing sellers to operate covertly.

Chalermpong issued the warning on his personal Facebook page, describing the trend as a serious and rapidly growing threat. He said the use of digital tools and encryption makes these networks difficult for authorities to detect. The MP urged police, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) and other security agencies to investigate urgently and dismantle the networks.

“This method is spreading fast and could severely damage Phuket’s image as a world-class tourist destination,” Chalermpong stated, emphasising that the island must remain drug-free to ensure safety for both residents and visitors. He called for coordinated efforts to remove the stickers and identify those behind the operation.

Following Chalermpong’s post, reporters from The Thaiger examined one of the QR codes and found that it linked to a website called thaihub.top, which is written entirely in Russian. The site openly advertises illegal narcotics including Ketamine, Ecstasy and Mephedrone. Investigators believe the network may be operated by Russian nationals, as the platform’s language and content are targeted toward Russian-speaking users.

The revelation has intensified concern among Thai authorities and social media users. The popular Facebook page “Drama-addict” also reported that similar QR code stickers have begun appearing in Bangkok, suggesting the network’s reach may already extend beyond Phuket. Law enforcement agencies are now expected to coordinate with cybercrime units and immigration authorities to identify suspects and block the online platforms involved.

Wikipedia:

The People's Party is a major social democratic and progressive political party in Thailand. It is the third incarnation of the progressive Future Forward Party, which was founded in 2018 and dissolved by the Constitutional Court on 21 February 2020.

good job People's Party

Old news. Anyone who uses FB will undoubtedly been advertised the same qr codes and blatant adverts offering the same powders and pills. Been going on since the beginning of the year at least. I have a screenshot of ThaiHub. Not sure i can post that here?

It makes the convicted drug dealer in parliament happy, although Thailand does not recognise Australia convicted Thais who served time in australia. Also these people are the same as the ones that took on the sicilian mafia in the USA and won

The 60 day visas are only a problem for Thailand for helping this scum in, and the chinese scammers and drug ingredient suppliers that team up with them. That's why Phuket and Pattaya have big problems, then add to that the dope shops that sell under the counter drugs to anyone.

The really bad news is kid's in Huahin are now drugged up and smoking at schools, it's spreading everywhere, soon no more high season only drug addicts and scum in Thailand, and someone has a big smile on their face, Thailand looks run down and you can't even trust construction anymore it's full of cheap steel, god knows how much of this crap is in highways and buildings, it actually appeared in NZ and they had to take about 2km of an overpass down when they found it, problem was with the supplier quality and a crook company in NZ this happened about 4 years ago so the stuff is probably all over Thailand, I hope the dope shops don't collapse into the underground railways, goodbye Thai tourism hello Russian mafia, Chinese scammers and drug suppliers.

Now where have I seen  that before? Maybe in some article about Pattaya?

Nothing russians do is sophisticated

I've recently seen similar stickers with QR codes in Central Bangkok, but they are even more explicit - they don't even bother with abbreviating the names of the drugs they supposedly sell, they spell out their full names. No idea who's behind it here in Bangkok though.

Time to rescind the visa-exempt entry status for Russians.

Not personally, but I think one of them is called Vladimir?

I assume that the investigators began their work after massive complaints from... local producers.

The police arrested him after he try to fleed to Koh Samui and hide in a hotel. He tried to run away from the police thru the backdoor but he didn't get away.Lock him up for 30 years i hope.

Or the local boys in brown.......:whistling:

Guys, do you remember how brave Thai police caught a Russian prostitute in Thailand? How shameful! How could they possibly do that? Those Russians—how could they not know that prostitution is illegal in Thailand?
I think these cases are very similar. If someone was serious about putting drug dealers in jail, drugs wouldn't be so easy to buy.

They pretty much own Phuket anyway, the Russians cause problems everywhere they go, their arrogance, stupidity, complete lack of manners or social skills, and sense of self entitlement and (misplaced) superiority wont be a suprise to anyone who has encountered them, not just in Asia but all over European and North African tourist destinations, they are pretty much loathed by everyone, there are exceptions of course, but few and far between from my broad experience

It would not be hard to find these stupid Russians by the RTP or drug squad. As a minimum make an undercover order via QR code. Thus evidence 100%. The follow the web trail. Simple!🙃

You can buy drugs on just about every street in Thailand, and Gunga may be not all they sell, bye bye tourists

As a Russian I strongly disagree with you. Vlad recently showed off some really scary nuclear toys to teach some people polite manners. I hope you've already figured out how to get to the nearest bomb shelter?

You do know that every city and military installation in Russia, would be vaporised and left as an irradiated wasteland fifteen minutes after Vladimir decides to use any of his " Nuclear Toys " dont you? Dont they teach you that in Russia? Or are you just proving my point ? No one wins a nuclear war, and even Vladimir knows that..
