Police on Koh Phangan have arrested three foreign nationals in two separate incidents involving drug offences and immigration violations, local authorities confirmed. The arrests, which took place on November 4 and 5, highlight ongoing efforts by police to address narcotics activity and visa overstays among foreign visitors.

At midday on November 5, officers conducted a raid on a rented house in Moo 1 after receiving reports from residents about suspected drug use. Police disguised themselves as joggers to monitor the property before moving in. Inside, they found two men, identified only as Roman, 26, a Russian national and Hugo, 28, from France, sitting at a table with a white powder later confirmed to be cocaine. Both attempted to escape but were detained at the scene.

Officers seized 3.14 grams of cocaine and an ecstasy test kit during the operation. Roman was charged with possession of cocaine, while Hugo was charged with use of the drug. The men, along with the confiscated evidence, were taken to Koh Phangan Police Station for further legal proceedings. Police said investigations were continuing to trace the source of the drugs and any potential links to wider networks.

In a separate case, immigration police arrested Yegor, a 34-year-old Ukrainian national, near Phantip Market in Ban Thong Sala on November 4. He was found to have overstayed his permission to stay, by 326 days. Records showed that Yegor entered Thailand through Satun province in October 2024 and last extended his stay until December 13 that year. He admitted to remaining in the country illegally and now faces prosecution under immigration laws.

Authorities noted that these incidents form part of broader law enforcement operations across tourist areas to maintain safety and compliance with local regulations. Police said both cases will proceed through the legal system and further checks will be conducted to prevent similar offences on the island.

Red and blue. No pink.

I do not see how their arrests will make others reconsider doing the same.

I am curious about how neighbors assumed these men were doing drugs inside the home though.
