A pickup truck carrying teachers, students and a school staff member from a well-known school in Nan province plunged off a hillside road on 5 November 2025, injuring 11 people. The vehicle was en route to a Loy Krathong activity when the driver lost control and fell down a slope near Huai Chi Hill, Ban Rom Sai, Chiang Klang district. Emergency teams rushed to the scene and transported the injured to Chiang Klang Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred at approximately 13:30, according to local news outlet Khao Ded Nan, which first reported the incident. Initial reports indicated that the vehicle, a pickup truck, was carrying nine students, one teacher and one housekeeper. All were heading to take part in school-organised festivities for the Loy Krathong festival, the annual Thai celebration held to honour the Goddess of Water.

Rescue personnel from local emergency units quickly arrived at the crash site, located near the descent from the Huai Chi bridge. The terrain was described as steep and narrow, making access difficult for rescue vehicles. Despite the challenging conditions, all victims were safely retrieved from the scene and taken to hospital. Medical staff later confirmed that most injuries were moderate, though some required close observation.

Authorities have not yet released the cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest the driver may have lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp bend on the downhill road. The road’s condition and possible mechanical failure are under investigation.

Police and local officials are coordinating with the school to ensure support for the injured students and staff. The Nan Provincial Education Office stated it would review safety protocols for student transportation, especially during festivals and off-campus activities.
