My Two private Pension companies send me "Are u still alive " forms Annually to be witnessed,  they ask that the form is completed and returned to them, if not they will stop the Pension..

Last year I received the form Four Months after they had posted it in the U.K., My Pension was stopped until I filled in, & got the form witnessed.

I complained at the online Postal Complaints Dept  and received an apology.

Yesterday  i received a form from the Second Pension company posted 11 June   taken 5 Months to  arrive at my home,I have E mailed  the Pension company hoping they will not stop  my payments, but what  can be done about this    crappy Postal service

Have you asked them to email it instead? if it's the same form every year maybe take copies and send every year, don't wait for snailmail

  • As has been mentioned other than going to the local office where the mail should be dispatched from and asking them politely not a lot. I have done this 2 x this year and lo and behold soon afterwards

Maybe use a reliable expedited service such as DHL or fedex?

Won't be easy to convince a pension office to do and how to cover extra cost.

I live in the sticks and have the luck of prompt and reliable delivery (same postman, about one "farang" per square mile, detached house).

If the address contains correct postal code, city and THAILAND it should at least reach the respecting post office.

Might be worth asking there if you expect a mailing.

Also first level of complaint not CEO 🙄

You still have contacts in your home country?

Ask them to send you a registered letter with tracking code.

Always use registered/to sign for services, or a courier like DHL, send important documents.

Centrelink, who provides age pensions in Australia, refuses to email and insists on hard copies via post. Their request for me to complete the Proof of Life form took more than 4 months to arrive.

They should be more flexible, I don't see a greater risk receiving an email vs a letter

Hard copies not unexpected.

German state pension sends a form personalized with a number. Fortunately they offer a video ident service (for which the number is needed). So no need to mail back.

Months to be delivered...

I read it often here.

I suspect it's the local post office delivery and/or address problems.

Thats why I suggest to do a testrun with friend/family back home if possible.

Returning the completed Proof of Life form can be done as a PDF via their online website, but they won't send the blank forms via email.

As has been mentioned other than going to the local office where the mail should be dispatched from and asking them politely not a lot. I have done this 2 x this year and lo and behold soon afterwards I received some mail after 6 months of nothing.

I had a similar issue but fortunately they sent me an email as 2 letters had never been answered.

In desperation I even asked my brother in the UK to post a tracked letter to me so I could see where it went......

The first one was lost even before it left the original post office in the UK! Zero tracking other than acceptance. So a general problem not just Thailand.

Once he got a refund (in stamps only....) he sent again and this one took only 8 days which is the quickest it has ever been.  The point of the tracking though is you can see exactly which offices it travels through.

Three years ago, I had my state pension suspended as I hadn't returned the life form.  Like many,  I'd never even heard of a life form.  I rang and was told that they had sent me the form on January 7th. I was calling them on May 16th?

I'm not sure why such a delay.  The woman I spoke to on the phone told me she'd had 100s of other calls from Thailand.  Unfortunately or fortunately, whichever way you take it, these life forms don't come every year.  A little tip to save a lot of hassle.  Copy the form.  Then ring them mid-January and they will tell you if you've been sent a form or not.

I phoned in January this year and was told a form was on its way.  I sent the copied form, and two weeks later, I received a text from the state pension people informing me they had received the form and not to reply to the text.

The sent form arrived approximately three months later.

No surprise. Such offices are not flexible.

Exactly. And be it just to exclude any address problems.

8 to 10 days is not unusual FROM Germany.

Other direction often hold up long at customs up to a week.

my bank used to send my new cards and pin numbers through the post untill they started to be taken by the postal staff , thai post is absolute garbage, they now send it all through courier services and it arrives quickly and not stolen, you need to contact them and explain that the postal service is extremely slow/ bad and a courier is the only option for safe delivery within a reasonable time or have them email it to you.

It is probably the UK postal service, mine comes via Germany (look at the stamp) although my post nearly always arrives on a Thursday so it could be hanging around at their office for a week maybe two if there is just the one. My UK Bank Card took two months to arrive

I don't get mail unless it's registered and even then I have to use my wife's shop's address.

2 letters to me posted in august and september did not arrive.

1 registered letter in october in 6 days from europe.

More expensive (16,5 euro) , but worth it.

My UK Bank Card took two months to arrive ....Lucky YOU, My Bank WON'T Even send a Card to Thailand Mine gets sent to my M8 in The U.K.And he just passes the number on to me via the FREE Phone service on FB Messanger !!

I have the same problem (or had). My postman likes to pile up the mail in the post office and leave it sit until he thinks there is enough to warrant a delivery. This has occurred many times as I will get about ten letters at a time from my medical insurance company, and the postmarks on them are up to six weeks apart from their mailing date.  He has gone so far as entering on tracked packages that “delivery attempted, receiver not home” and he hasn’t even come to the house as I have the whole day on CCTV showing nobody arriving - happening several time. I made complaints to the 1545 call center. I reminded them that is is a criminal offence to detain mail under section 163 of the Thai Criminal Code. I was then called by the postmaster from the local post office with an apology. I clearly advised her that should I have further packages that are marked as “delivery unsuccessful” and I have CCTV that the postman never even attended my house, I would be filing a police report. The mail has been consistently arriving since then.

Thai Criminal Code — Section 163

Makes it an offence for a postal, telegraph, or telephone official to detain, send astray, destroy, or deliver to the wrong person any item sent by post.

I Returned a Faulty Appliance via " Flash Express " THEY Could'nt find the company it was supposed to be returned to,after 3 UNSUCCESSFUL Attempts they delivered it to a DIFFERENT Company with a Similar name,That Company phoned me nearly 2 Weeks Ago & said it was nothing to do with them & They would return it to me...They have NOT done as promised,So Where do I Stand ?? SCAM or NOT ??

I had 5 letters delivered at once covering 4 months. I wonder if the posties who sort & deliver can actually decode Thai addresses from the International scripts and jut return then to the sorting office.
