Non o spouse to non o dependent

Featured Replies

I am currently on a non o spouse visa, I would like to change this to non o dependent visa (based on my school age child) as my husband will be working away when my visa is due for renewal. Is this achievable (at Chaeng Watthana)?

Thank you

Are you actually on a non-O VISA, or are you on an extension of stay which is not a visa?  The visa is only 90 days, but the extension of stay is annual and the stamp in your passport will say "extension of stay."

If you're on the visa, then there's nothing you can do because the extension must be for the same reason the visa was obtained with.

Secondly, you don't say whether you are married to a Thai, or if you are married to a foreigner who is working in Thailand?  Which one is it, because it will make a huge different.

OP, at a guess (your post is not detailed)... You are married to a non Thai and at some point entered Thailand on a non O (dependant on non Thai working husband)

Assume you are now on annual extensions.

Clarify your situation.

Not sure but think

@brewsterbudgen may have done something similar recently.

I'm thinking you're married to a Thai and therefore your current extension will be based on visiting Thai Family, not Spouse.  This being the case the reason for extension wouldn't have to change only the person you are visiting (assuming your child is Thai).  If this is the case ought to be easy enough.

And the winner is... Upnotover, as clear in this old thread. OP is married to male Thai national.

OP are you birth mother of the Thai national child?

Hello,

Sorry I wasn't aware you could be on a non o not married to a Thai.

I've been on a non o since 2012, I am a female married to a Thai man. I am the birth mother of our child, who is Thai.

Thank you

And your husband will not be around at all in the 45 days before your current extension ends?  That will of course be an issue either continuing as you are or trying to change to visiting your child as they will surely want to see your husband at some point.  If all else fails I'd be inclined for all three of you to go to CW whenever you possibly can and attempt to get advice there, it's not highly likely than anyone on here has had the same situation.

This is my concern . He is working away for the next 4 months, so I can extend on the reason of having my daughter here but I doubt they would extend it based on my husband as usually he attends with me. My other option is to restart the whole visa process on a non b via work, which seems like a bit of a faff, especially after being on this same visa for over ten years. .

Thank you for the advice I'll try do that.

They do seem to be more relaxed about females with Thai spouses but still can't imagine it will be easy without him.  Anyway, best of luck to you.
