Police in Chonburi province are investigating the death of a 25-year-old woman found with a fatal stab wound to her chest inside her bathroom early morning on 10 November 2025. The victim, identified as Ms Mantanakorn, known as “New”, was discovered by her boyfriend at an apartment in Soi Photisan, Pattaya. Despite rescue workers’ efforts to resuscitate her, she was pronounced dead from her injuries at the scene.

The incident was reported at around 06.40 to Pol Lt Wongsathorn Makkhanan, deputy investigator at Bang Lamung Police Station, who arrived with officers and members of the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Foundation. Inside the ground-floor bathroom, police found the victim lying in a pool of blood with a single stab wound to the centre of her chest. A Japanese-style filleting knife about 20 centimetres long was recovered next to her body and taken for forensic examination.

The victim’s boyfriend, identified only as Mr Ek, aged 35, appeared deeply distressed as he gave his statement. He told police that he and the victim had been in a relationship for six to seven months and worked together at an entertainment venue on North Pattaya Third Road. Around midnight, his girlfriend had messaged him, asking him to visit her “for a kiss”, but he refused because he was still at work, also teasing her about her revealing outfit. The conversation led to a minor argument, after which she stopped replying.

According to CCTV footage, the victim returned to her apartment at 04.52, followed by her boyfriend at 05.09. When he arrived, she had locked the door and did not respond to repeated knocks or nearly 20 phone calls over the next hour. At 06.07 he hired a locksmith to open the door, where he found her lying in the bathroom with the knife nearby. He immediately called police and emergency services.

Investigators later confirmed that the woman had a history of treatment for depression. Pol Lt Wongsathorn said the boyfriend has been brought in for further questioning as part of routine procedure. Forensic teams from Chonburi Police Region 2 have examined the scene and collected evidence. Authorities have not yet concluded whether the death was self-inflicted or the result of foul play. The victim’s body has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital in Bangkok for a detailed autopsy.

Sounds suspicious, they self harm on the wrists but to stab with a 20cm knife I haven't read before

Sad for this to happen. I am curious if the news regards this more of a murder than suicide though. Usually when it is assumed suicide they put an advisory to seek help if feeling depressed or suicidal.

He waited outside and tried to call her several times, then called a locksmith, so how did the perp get away, through a window??

Maybe the BF had a key, snuffed her then disposed of the key and called a locksmith after cleaning himself up, he was outside for quite a while, sounds like a murder but we will have to wait and see

Agreed, doesn't seem likely to stab herself in the middle of the chest, possibly deliberately fall onto it.

Her bf killed her for sure. His story dont add up at all.He must think the police is stupid.

People hanging from bridges with a plastic bag over their had (years ago in Bangkok) have been ruled 'suicide', so why not... 😆
