Four foreigners are being sought by authorities after allegedly stealing wallets and cardholders from a leather goods store in the Botanica shopping mall in Patong, Phuket. The store owner shared CCTV footage showing the theft with the Newshawk Phuket Facebook page on November 17. The footage, recorded around 8 pm, depicts the group entering the store, with a man in a white shirt distracting the staff while two women took items.

In the footage, the women are seen placing stolen goods into a paper bag and hiding products behind a mobile phone before leaving, followed by two men. Items taken include wallets and cardholders, though their value remains unspecified. A massage shop worker in the same mall noted that the group had visited their services around 6 pm that same day.

A Thai man, associated with the hotel where the suspects allegedly stayed, identified the man in the white shirt as Omar Youssef. The hotel worker reported that Youssef caused a disturbance after being denied a refund for a breakfast he wanted in the afternoon. There is speculation that the suspects might be Jordanian nationals, as suggested by a Facebook user, but police have yet to confirm their identities or make any arrests.

A related theft occurred the day before, also in Phuket, involving a foreign man captured on CCTV stealing pink-lensed sunglasses worth 199 baht. The suspect tried on multiple pairs and discreetly took one before exiting the store. This individual also remains at large, and it is unclear if the incidents are connected, reported The Thaiger.

Key Takeaways

  • Four foreigners are at large after a theft at a Phuket shop.
  • Suspects were potentially identified but not yet confirmed by police.
  • Another theft occurred a day earlier, with the suspect still missing.

Lifting 199thb sunglasses? Some kinda keeenyao falangs there, nic the 399thb ones at least....

Must be an adrenalin rush, either that or pure stupidity. This is not the US, there are no "Sanctuary Cities" and if you rob the wrong people, you will be either dead or a long time in jail. There are no woke rules about thefts under $900 here, you will suffer the consequences. (Remember that poor woman working the toll booths, she got more than 40 years for nicking a few baht from the wrong people)

These idiots are in for a rude awakening. If they are lucky, they might get deported, on the other hand, they might not.

The report says that the thieves may be from Jordan where the population is over 50% Palestinian.

Too true.

If they didn’t blur the faces in the top picture it might be easier for the public, or other shop keepers to spot them

Seems like nobody ever does. Omar Youssef is an obvious Arabic name.

The point is the value of the things to a European would be relatively nothing , not where they are from.

Who are they going to sell them to or are they stealing them to give as gifts upon arriving back home instead of paying for them .

6 months in a cell, then deported and banned.

Lessons need to be learned
