Would it be possible to enter Thailand on VE 3 times a year?

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I'm currently staying in Vietnam now.

I'm planning to go to Thailand on VE to see my EN friends in BKK

next March for a week before coming back to Vietnam. And I'm

going back to Thailand on VE again to see my Thai friends for

Songkran next April for 2 weeks before coming back to Vietnam

again.

Would you think it possible to go back to Thailand on VE again

after these 2 VE entries into Thailand?

Thank you in advance.

Not clear how long you spent in Thailand on each visit.

That counts a Lot.

Thinking you are fine.

Have print out of your return ticket to Vietnam and outline of planned itinerary in Thailand.

Are they counting days again or just seeing 2 previous visits and sending people back? I've heard different variations suggesting they may be counting days or not.

I've seen all sorts of things on youtube - but most of them do appear to be long stayers.

It would be very short sighted if someone visits Bangkok for a long weekend like 3 or 4 nights say 4 or 5 times a year and they reject them based on too many entries - but who knows, I bet some get denied entry.

Should not be counting days as the 180 day max is "not a thing"

It's more about time spent ongoing in Thailand.. eg ve + extension then short stay out of Thailand for another ve.

Short stays even often without extension = tourist

As I said, I'll go stay in Thailand for a week on my 1st VE entry next March,

and for 2 weeks on my 2nd VE entry next April. I'll move back and forth

between VN and Thailand by land via ChongMek as always. I don't know

how long I'll stay in the Kingdom for on my possible 3rd VE entry, though.

FYI, I'm enjoying some local beer here for 7 Baht per bottle (350ml) every

day!

Generally speaking,  I'd say your short visits shouldn't be a problem. But you plan to enter overland at a not very busy border checkpoint (Chong Mek), so it's impossible to tell what their rules will be. You could ask them after they've stamped you in the 2nd time if they'll allow you a 3rd visit later. That's probably the closest you can get to a reliable answer.

With that beer price you mention, it can't be Saigon beer lol.

Sorry for not being able to get back to you much sooner.

Thanks very much for your advice!

I've already come back to Thailand from Vietnam 3 times

this year. I was actually going to twice but I was invited to

the wedding by a Thai friend of mine after I visited Thailand

on my 2nd VE entry, so maybe I'd save my 2nd VE entry

just to stay on the safe side for next year, because I wouldn't

like to get stopped and even get turned back at the border

crossing at Chong Mek (I've got stopped there once before).

I'm still deciding whether or not to come back to Thailand

to see my EN friend in BKK next March. I've actually known

her for more than 25 years now and she will come back to

Thailand on her 2-week holiday every year, so I wouldn't like

to miss the chance. I'll see what happens.

As for the local VN beer, it's 'Dung Quat' and I'll always buy

12 bottles for 80B! 555 It even sells at a local pub for 10B

per bottle! I did empty 9 bottles yesterday! Cheers!
