Farage's Racism Denials Slated by Ex-Classmate's Claims

Nigel Farage faces renewed scrutiny, as a former classmate accuses him of dishonesty regarding allegations of past racist behaviour. Peter Ettedgui, who attended Dulwich College with Farage, claims the Reform UK leader directed antisemitic abuse at him during their school years. This follows Farage's recent outright denial of ever racially abusing anyone directly.

Ettedgui, one of several former pupils alleging misconduct, recalls Farage repeatedly making statements like "Hitler was right" and mimicking gas chamber sounds. Despite Farage's assertion in a Monday interview that he had "never directly racially abused anybody," Ettedgui describes these comments as "pretty vicious" and deeply impactful, given his family's history with the Holocaust. The BBC corroborated his account with two other former students.

In his defence, Farage, 61, acknowledged possible youthful misspeaking but dismissed the allegations as politically charged fabrications. Addressing the timing, he questioned how individuals could recall events with such precision after nearly five decades, implying a political motive behind the accusations. Ettedgui firmly rejected this notion, emphasising a personal impetus for his statements rather than a coordinated smear campaign.

Looking forward, the allegations emerge amidst broader debates over Farage's influence and aspirations, with Ettedgui expressing personal concern about the potential of Farage rising to prime ministerial status. As accusations continue to surface, the controversy poses questions about political accountability and historical memory, reported the BBC.

Key Takeaways:

  • Allegations involve antisemitic remarks made by Nigel Farage during school.
  • Farage dismisses these claims, citing political motivations and unclear memories.
  • The fallout raises questions about Farage's political future and past actions.

An accusation is not enough. You need proof.

You know, like we have proof of Labour's anti-semitism.

Jonny attempts to deflect from the corroborated account of Farage’s obscene antisemitism.

Perhaps imitating the sound of gas hissing towards a Jew who lost family in the Holocaust is something that you find acceptable behavior in those whose political views you support.

"One of the most vivid memories of my school life is Farage repeatedly coming up to me and, knowing that I was Jewish, saying Hitler was right and 'gas 'em', and that was frequently followed by a 'sssss', you know, kind of imitating the sound of escaping gas.

"That's my abiding memory of him, and that sort of verbal abuse happened quite consistently over the year that we were together in the same class.

"And it was pretty vicious, it was pretty nasty, it was absolutely directed in a very personal way at me."

He said Farage's words had "hit hard" because his grandparents had escaped Nazi Germany and much of their family had perished in the Holocaust.

"It wasn't the normal sort of vaguely antisemitic banter that you might encounter in the school grounds at that time in the 1970s. It was much worse," he added.”

Many people are Left Wing when they are younger and move over to the Right Wing as they get older .

Nigel has moved on from his Left wing beliefs , the beliefs he had when he was at school

It’s a corroborated account of Farage’s obscene antisemitism.

I know you want to give him a pass, but let’s not pretend he didn’t behave as reported.

Very surprising to see Nick excusing Farage’s obscene antisemitism.

Gossip from over 4 decades ago.

No evidence whatsoever.

You guys are so desperate. It's laughable. 😄

You cannot excuse that which does not exist.

Anyone denying that far right leaders, and I know two very good examples, are hardcore racists must be a far right sympathisant.

Corroborated accounts, refer OP and link provided.

But yes I know you want to give Farage a pass on his obscene antisemitism.

Like I said, zero evidence.

Given your political leanings and love for the Labour party I'd have thought you'd be quite impressed with Farage if there was any truth in this, which clearly there isn't.

Terrible things are said by School kids , they just don't realise what they are saying

The UK has an antisemitism problem, it has nothing to do with farage. It has to do with the very large muslim population

Don't worry Jonny, you have shown our colours for years already. You endure Jews because your master in the US supports them, but you forget he only does that for financial interests.

Your hatred of Jews is as clear as day. Stop deflecting, it doesn't work.

As the proverb says:

Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man”

I would be absolutely staggered if farage was NOT racist...Of course hes a  racist. Just like his mate Tommy whats his name Robinson AKA Eddie Nichnolson

And how is the US doing as opposed to the UK?

A creditable and worthwhile use of the license fee payers money by the BBC!

Producer to research assistants: "get out, there, find some people who were at school with Nigel Farage fifty years ago and get them to corroborate this, there might be a Glasto ticket in it for you, you never know!"

I'm quite repaired to believe that Nigel Farage was a gobby little so and so when at school, anyone who follows the British political scene will probably believe it, and really not care!

I think you missed my point dear Jonny. I never posted that I have anything against Jews, I only pointed out your racism, and the reason why you don't include Jews in that hatred against anything foreign.

Knowing the BBC he probably said "pretty normal for a kid in a playground, not vicious at all" and they spliced it together to make "pretty vicious" like they did with Trump's speech.

Can't trust the BBC at all.

I was simply pointing out your blatant antisemitism and the fact you throw around the racist label to try and deflect from your own hatred of Jews.

Hope that's clear now.

Perhaps there’s something about Ettedgui that causes you not to trust his account of his personal experience with Farage?!

Where did I post anything antisemitic?

It is not because I point out your hardcore racism, and that you are too dumb to realise why Trump does exclude Jews from his racism, that I have something against Jews.

BTW, antisemitism must be the most over rated and abused word in the world these days
