Good stuff!!

I'm sorry Tug, but as a non-Canadian I cannot allow you to comment on affairs concerning my country. How cute of you to try though!

At least he didn't call the election for the Conservatives like some did.

True. I was wrong, freely admit it. Dreams overcoming evidence and all that.

But to be honest, I have been pleasantly surprised with the performance of the current PM. He has been cleaning out a lot of the worst dregs from the previous Trudeau administration, and wants to make Canada into an energy superpower. I can put up with occasional forays into wokedom and DEI if he can turbo charge our resource sector and put realistic caps on immigration.

More like a consequence of Trump fanboyism.

That was part of it. Althouth the opposite was probably a bigger factor.

I was less than happy with Trump's constant trolling about 51st state and all that nonsense. The media in Canada whipped it up into a frenzy of fear and used it to generate faux patriotism.   It definitely swayed a lot of voters who were otherwise disgusted with the results of the Trudeau years.  Changing leaders to Carney, who had no relationship with Trump and came across as measured and calm, was a brilliant move by the Liberals.

You're taking all the fun out of gotcha. I'm pretty sure that's against the rules.

Sorry about that. I am trying hard to suck the fun out of your "moment".../s

But seriously, it makes having  a discussion a lot easier if one simply (shock) tells the truth on occasion.  I'm not going to badmouth my PM because he ran a good campaign and took advantage of the political climate.  I didn't vote for Carney, I'll be honest about that. But he is governing more like a 90s liberal a la Chretien or Paul Martin than I ever imagined.

I only wish others could follow suit. Although it WOULD make for a more boring time here , wouldn't it....

And who elected as the Grand Pooh Bah of who can or cannot post on any thread? If it was supposed to be a joke, it is a very poor attempt, if it was for real, then my  comment stands.

It was a rib on Tug, who posted the exact same thing to ME in a discussion about the United States.  Turnabout is fair play.

And yet you see fit to comment on stuff coming from his country?

Yes, of course.

I was being tongue in cheek.  I am sure Tug took it that way, he isn't an idiot.  There is no need to be obtuse and take everything so literally.

Of course there is. The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.

While it is true that in print there is no way to gauge the authors frame of mind maybe that is what emoticons are for? Or simply 555
