  • Oh dear! Both of you. The point here was that it´s an idiotic advice. Why on earth should somebody put their tax sticker together with or hanging on the license plate? Idiotic idea! Ever heard of this

  • I guess you will need a police report first

It's better to have the tax separate to the plate then it's less likely to fall off

You seem to have a lot of bad experiences in Thailand or just make them up to get in the recognized click on this forum. Let´s say like this, I have done it with no problem. Many of my friends, both Thais and foreigner have done it, with no problem. Then you ask if I don´t think they want to get paid for their work. Yes, I wrote that in the post you quoted. Are you drunk?

Anyway, you seem to be unique! A man with the heavy weight of bad experiences.

I didn’t know I had a lot of problems, but thank you

They are both are saying is DO NOT PUT THE TAX LABEL IN A TUBE MOUNTED WITH THE NUMBERPLATE because if you lose the plate you lose the tax label.

Yeah, but why would you put the tax label there. It just goes without saying.

Tax thingy should be attached with a sticky film to the bike body, difficult to remove quickly by a thief, protected from the rain too....🤗

Inside a car, the non-sticky film, otherwise it will pull your screen film off.........🫣

Because many DO put it there.

But it is a daft place to put the tax thing. Years ago Mrs.T had one of those round things, someone just broke it off to nick the blue tax.

Now, always the sticky film, good insurance, if you can find a nice flat place to put it, thankfully, her Vespa has.......

Or just keep it with the green book if you ok to not be stopped unexpectedly and unnecessarily. I wouldn’t stick it on to my bike, unless inside the windshield

Problem with that is, if parked up with no sticker, a traffic cop may take your number and report it, probably a fine...

It probably broke off as described above, no one wants the tax

Guessing again, strange Mrs.T told me what some naughty folk do, so I think I would rather take note of a local than yourself.........😉

They can not just write a ticket out of the blue, since many keeps it with their green book, insurance etc

Well the blue thing is meant to be displayed on the bike, same as the correct place on a car windscreen, we once had a cop tell us to put it higher up on the screen, of course it depends on the cop...🤗

The blue thing is provided for display, you also get a cut off receipt to keep in a vehicle book too..

You can get a fine for not having it on display....

Google it....The blue thing is for display, if not displayed you can get a fine, which may show up when you next try to tax it.

plastic film with glue, that sticks on any part of the motorbike

Funny you should mention that because I just applied mine to the bucket under the seat on my scooter. The last one was stolen out of the holder on my licence plate.  I was stopped at road blocks a few times and the cops said it's a regular occurrence and were satisfied with seeing the paperwork and my Thai licence.

Be careful with that approach!

Yep, I tried to make that point but seems to be many deaf ears as usual.

Yep, seems to be many fools out there. Are you one of them? Do you put your tax evidence in the wrong place?

Actually one broke off, bad road on the way to work.

Bought new one with three pins on Lazada, hopefully holdsSkrmbild2025-12-03155442.png.56281ffc5351c9e66ce9dfb61e2599a6.png better.

My registration plate has fallen off.

Must I go to the DLT to get new one?

Be prepared for a long long long wait. I lost mine a while back. Apply at the Registration office, mine took over 1 year. (same registration, just a replacement, I think it cost about 2 quid)

They might say to get a police report, but I’d ask the retailer first as you normally return the bike to them to swap for reg plate.

How did you get the impression it was a red plate that will have to be replaced by the dealer?

Same as any other place in the world

To replace a lost license plate in Thailand, first,

file a police report for the missing plate and obtain a copy. Then, take this report, along with your vehicle registration book and ID, to the local Department of Land Transport (DLT) office to request a new plate. You will likely need to pay a fee and may receive the new plate immediately or within a few weeks

The first (and probably only) full and correct answer!! Kudos !!

Got my registration book back, receipt that plate will be delivered in 30 days.

Turns out using an agent helps. 700 baht for new plate including agent fee.

In - out in 5 minutes, just make copies if police stop me.
