From retirement to marriage extension

Featured Replies

Is it possible to switch from extension based on retirement to marriage extension?

I am using the money in the bank method at the moment (800k).

Could it be possible to do the 40000 bht/month instead? Does the money need to show as coming from outside Thailand?

Just need to show 12 months of transfers before the switch and then keep on doing the monthly transfers?

Cheers

Yes, but you will need to maintain the 800/400 balance from the current retirement extension whilst transferring the first years 40k/month (from abroad).

Switching from Retirement to Marriage is easy for the financial side.

Just keep your bank account at 800k until 3 months after you received your retirement extension, and then never let it drop below 400k.  That's already the retirement extension requirement, and it will also meet the marriage extension requirement.

The marriage extension requirement is that your bank account must be at 400k for 2 full months at the time you apply for the extension.  Since you left it at 400k to meet the previous requirements, you already met the marriage requirements.

As far as the monthly income method, you need to ask your immigration office if they accept this using monthly transfers.  Many, if not most, immigration offices only accept proof of monthly income if it's from your work permit job in Thailand and you can show proof of your salary.

If the office does accept proof of transfers, you must make sure you have 12 full months of international transfers of at least 40k into your bank account in your name only.  Miss a month by even a day and you will not get your extension based on income.

OP, take note of post from @BrandonJT.. In particular...

pretty sure CW will allow income method for marriage extensions however you should check your plan with local immigration office.
