This is your idea of exoneration?

The Pentagon inspector general’s release Thursday of its long-awaited report on Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s role in the Signalgate affair offered nothing that will doom President Donald Trump’s most embattled Cabinet chief. But it could complicate his political future.

Investigators concluded that Hegseth’s use of the Signal messaging app to send updates about strikes in Yemen broke rules for handling sensitive information and risked putting troops in danger — even if Hegseth has the power to declassify that information as he sees fit.

More on "Signalgate"........

Signalgate’ report contradicts Hegseth’s claim of ‘total exoneration’

The US Defence Department’s top watchdog has assessed that Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth’s actions in the “Signalgate” affair “created a risk to operational security”, contradicting claims made by Hegseth and his aides that he received a “total exoneration”.

Hegseth’s falsehoods about the report’s conclusions underscore the extent to which he and his top aides have worked to downplay the seriousness of his actions. Former top military officials and other national security experts have argued since the scandal surfaced earlier this year that such handling of highly sensitive information almost certainly put American lives at risk – a point the inspector general’s team emphasised in its findings.

He should be removed with a record like his, and this despicable creature would deserve it.....but Donny only hires the best people. Yeah right!

The UK just informed the US they will no longer share security info about the Caribbean with the US because they don't want to be associated with the illegal actions of the US. The US has been weakened because of those murders ordered by Hegseth.

Under the new National Security Strategy, the UK will not be allowed to have intelligence or military assets in the Caribbean. Commonwealth members and British overseas territories in the Western Hemisphere (the Caymans, Bermuda) would be required to swear fealty to the US. The strategy states there would be measures, unstated, taken if these countries and territories do not comply. The US has not commented on French Departments and Dutch possesions in the region. The strategy implies interference in the sovereign affairs of these European states.

I don't see any reason for 5 Eyes to continue. The US has defined the criteria for alliances; alliances are expected to provide a 1 way benefit to the US. The European nuclear capability is 500 warheads, not as much as the US and Russia, but how much do you really need to destroy the world. The US doesn't pay a dime to the UK for use of forward operating bases in the UK. These bases are of considerable benefit to the US as it moves any front line 8000kms from the Homeland. Rent is owed, or leave. 48 hours to vacate. Equipments left will be declared property of the Crown. Not the UK's problem where 10,000 American families are going to live. The NSS removed all doubt  where the US stands now, 24 years after 911.

A great synopsis in the midst of a wilderness of delusion. The US is not a reliable ally, friend, or partner, and seems to take it's alliances for granted in it's Trump version of never ending arrogance and it's ridiculously silly version of American exceptionalism.

The only exceptional aspect of America is the size of its economy and the size of its defense budget, other than that the quality of life in America has been declining for three decades, and it remains a ridiculously expensive place to live, with a fairly low quality of living and a huge percent of disenchanted and relatively joyless souls. No thanks.
