Featured Replies

Mr “under the influence” did the airport employees and Flight Attendants a big favor by not taking a taxi and missing his flight under the influence.

If you can't afford a f'in taxi in Thailand you really have no business travelling. Broke idiots seem to be multiplying here lately.

Not once in the now almost 51 years of my existence have I known someone who had to actually go to hospital after consuming cannabis! Just lay down and roll with it and you'll be fine within a few hours....

Yes indeed  but the ride can be quite bad ...I literally thought I would die last episode ,obviously did not..never thought about going to hospital..just telling my wife the bank account details  so she

would not freeze to death after my mysterious passing  😋

I thought the same thing about his tight schedule.  Even if he caught the 6:00 pm bus he most likely would have arrived too late for his flight.

I thought trying to comprehend what was written in the OP would help.

'This obviously happened on 2 December, since would now take the 4am bus on 3 December, to catch his rescheduled flight midnight 4 December.

So his original flight would most lilely depart midnight 3 December, not 2 December

The first time sucks because you don't know what to expect. 😀

A drunk Dane?

Colour me shocked.

At least he wasn't a violent lout like the drunk Aussies or Canadians.

Kudos to the Thai translator for defusing the situation. 💯%

Yes, over the top help to tourist by police.  Good job.

I feel for the guy, I arrived 5 hours before departing my flight, at Swampy, the flight before Covid had to be rebooked again, and I had to pay for the new flight again the next day and pay for the hotel for one night reason I missed? Got sent from one counter to another. I was lucky it was the last flight to OZ before Covid, but saying that, he should have been on time

Sounds like a nice way of saying he was detained.

Also as mentioned previously, a 6pm bus would mean he'd miss a midnight flight - scheduled bus takes around six hours. And even if a taxi had been a feasible alternative, the fare would likely be dwarfed by the cost of changing his ticket if it was a flight back to Europe. More holes than a block of Havarti.

Checking his documents, officers confirmed that the man was legally in Thailand.

It the linked article it said  they confirmed the guy had entered Thailand legally,  I know they are having a bit of a crackdown to demonstrate  their new instructions, but how many western tourists actually enter illegally annually ?  It can't be that many, how do they do it anyway ? hacking through the jungle ?    Under a blanket in a pic up truck with the construction workers?   its a bit far to come on a "small boat" but then again he probably  has viking blood.

There was a few danish pastries  lived not far from me    once they got a few beers down them they wanted to fight the world   their mood could change in seconds  and the fists would soon be flying, nasty pieces of work.  If they were not fighting others they would often fight just amongst themselves

A Danish tourist caused a disturbance at the Trat Bus Terminal on December 2 after missing the last bus to Suvarnabhumi International Airport. The man, whose name was not disclosed, was upset after arriving too late for the 6pm bus, the final service of the day. His midnight flight departure prompted a loud outburst, alarming terminal staff and bystanders.

Initially, staff attempted to explain the situation and offered alternative transport options, but the tourist refused to calm down. It was observed that he seemed to be under the influence of alcohol. Police were called to the scene at around 6pm to address the situation.

Checking his documents, officers confirmed that the man was legally in Thailand. To facilitate better communication, they involved the Tourist Police to assist with interpreting. Ultimately, the interpreter managed to soothe the tourist, communicating with his airline to change his flight to midnight on December 4.

The police escorted him to the Trat Tourist Police office for the night, ensuring he would secure a spot on the first 4am bus on December 3. The incident highlights potential challenges for tourists managing transport schedules.

In related news, an Indian travel blogger recently shared her negative experiences in Thailand. She alleged a "hospital scam" in Krabi after consuming cannabis edibles, leading to a missed flight and a 36,000 baht medical bill. Her claims sparked debate online, with some netizens attributing the situation to her own choices, reported The Thaiger.

Not so. The police it Thailand can be extremely nice to foreigners...even <deleted> like that one.

I'm a bit confused as it says he missed the last 6pm bus, but the police were called at 6pm. So did the bus leave before 6? Also, just because it said he appeared drunk doesn't necessarily mean he was.

I've been reading stories like these for two decades now. I often wonder how the subjects involved even found their home airport to get out here in the first place. I suspect they were taken all the way to the counter and checked in by family members who were grateful to see the back of them. There's no other explanation.
