Work From Home Or Else!

Featured Replies

So the government is throwing their arms up and saying stay home because Bangkok will have air pollution problems for the next four months. I guess no more false hopes about ever fixing the problem?

BMA proposes working from home one day a week until March

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is seeking cooperation from the public and private sectors by allowing their employees to work from home (WFH) for at least one day per a week, from today until the end of March, due to a forecast deterioration in the PM2.5 airborne pollution problem in Bangkok.

The WFH measure is imposed when PM2.5 in the atmosphere in 35 out of 50 districts in Bangkok reaches the ‘orange’ level and the number of hotspots, detected by satellite, surpasses 80 for three consecutive days.

The Air Quality Information Centre of the BMA reported today that PM2.5 levels in 44 out of 50 districts in the city has reached 61.9µg/m³ (microns), due to poor air circulation and this is expected to worsen from Sunday through next Friday.

Thiennukul, president of the Federation of Thai Industries, said he supports the WFH measure, because it reduces emissions from vehicles by about 14%, adding that burning of agricultural wastes must be curbed as well.

The Pollution Control Department has advised the Commerce Ministry to investigate whether maize, which is imported from neighboring countries, comes from plantations which still use slash-and-burn farming practices.

Thailand produces about four million tonnes of maize annually and imports about three million tonnes to meet domestic demand.

A brainscrub to get the masses used to the idea of staying locked up indoors away from others, working in isolation.

Training exercise before A.I. takes everyone's job...

Shades of Convid-9teen.

Just sub invisible 'deadly virus' for something tangible, i.e. air pollution.

I am pretty sure they are trying to fix problem. Maybe you have a good idea for them how to do it.

Yeah, I suppose you could put an "The Illuminati is trying to kill us all" spin on just about anything.

Maybe they are just genuinely interested in keeping the pollution levels down.

Is being in your own home 1 day a week torture? Why? Your wife nags you all day long? Kick her out then.

The problem could have been fixed in five minutes, ages ago. I've got two words for you why it hasn't: Mitr Phol. I've also got another word that describes the issue: Wangkanai.

It's depressing thinking about the next four months like this.

Yes there was 1 good idea, I think by the Japanese years ago and that was to make all trucks/buses etc configure their exhaust pipes vertically above the truck (instead of horizontal under the truck) so the exhaust gasses could disperse quicker.

Makes sense to me.

Is there really that many jobs in Bangkok that can be done from home? I would think most are labor, sales, or service jobs

Stop burning land in the north to start with.

Get those trucks / cars with black smoke of the road.

Most jobs cannot be done from home.

Maybe they should make face masks compulsory - oh wait...:coffee1:
