Police in Bang Pa-in have arrested one of the two suspects involved in the brutal killing of a pub security guard in Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya, a case that has raised concern among local residents. The victim, 32-year-old Suthikarn Phetshahin, was found dead on Chom Phon P Road in Sam Ruean sub-district after being stabbed more than 20 times and struck on the head with a stone in the early hours of 5 December. Officers later identified two male suspects on CCTV footage and moved quickly to track them down.

Investigators subsequently detained 46-year-old Ekarat Taengthet at his home in Saraburi after confirming he was one of the men captured on surveillance cameras. On 6 December at 09:00, Pol Lt Thawon Saengsai, deputy investigator at Bang Pa-in Police Station, brought Ekarat to Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Court to request his detention. He was charged with “jointly committing murder,” and police opposed bail.

During his transfer from the holding cell, Ekarat told reporters he had been drinking heavily before the incident and claimed he was asleep at a karaoke venue when staff woke him to intervene in a fight. He alleged that the second suspect, “Tae,” who remains at large, had a prior conflict with the victim and was the real aggressor. Ekarat insisted he only attempted to separate the pair and denied attacking Suthikarn.

He added that he wanted to urge Tae to surrender and “take responsibility,” saying the situation had caused him serious trouble. According to police, Tae, identified as 41-year-old Katchaphak Yangchai from Udon Thani, fled his residence and sought help from close associates, but they refused after officers had already approached them for information.

Daily News reported that police continue to examine witness testimony and CCTV footage to determine the full circumstances of the killing. They confirmed that anyone found involved in the attack will face prosecution. Officers remain confident that additional evidence will support further action as the search for Tae intensifies.
