Police in Pattaya launched a major response on the evening of 7 December 2025 after a 31-year-old man went on a violent rampage inside a commercial building in Soi Kho Pai 5. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station mobilised more than 20 personnel equipped with shields and restraint tools to contain the situation. The incident caused extensive disruption as the man damaged property, set fire to a curtain and attempted to hang himself on the fourth floor.

Officers arrived at about 20:00 and found the Thai man, identified as Weerachai, shouting, destroying belongings and behaving erratically. Negotiations continued for more than an hour as police tried to calm him down. During this time, he fled to the rooftop and climbed across the roofs of more than eight adjacent shops, forcing police to adjust their strategy and secure the area.

The situation escalated as the man moved unpredictably across the connected roofs. Officers eventually managed to rush in and restrain him on the ground floor of one of the repair shops, when he came down off the roof. The struggle left several tools damaged and multiple glass panels shattered, adding to the losses reported by shop owners.

Rescue personnel noted that the man was bleeding heavily from multiple injuries and was immediately taken to hospital. Witnesses said he continued shouting at his wife upon seeing her and later admitted to taking two methamphetamine pills. He also told police that the incident stemmed from a heated argument with his wife earlier that morning, which he was unable to control.

Neighbours reported hearing loud crashes before calling authorities for help. One resident said they saw the man holding a knife, starting a fire and preparing to hang himself using electrical wiring. Their call prompted the rapid police mobilisation that ultimately led to the man’s capture.

Several motorcycle repair shops suffered property damage during the incident and owners are preparing to file official complaints. Police say Weerachai will face charges including drug use, property damage and additional offences depending on his actions, pending medical treatment and recovery. Authorities are continuing to assess the full extent of the damage and gather statements from those affected.

Shoot him and be done with it. Give the nut the oblivion he craves and his wife the peace she deserves.

Probably also too many violent videogame all night sessions.

No mention of cannabis strangely.

No wonder they never got to the cow herder!  The police were exhausted overpowering a zonked-out would-be suicider.
