A condominium in Chiang Mai city was raided on 9 December after police uncovered an online gambling operation linked to the platforms “ufa168zeed3” and “ufa168pro2”. Officers from the Provincial Police Region 5 and the Chiang Mai Technology Crime Suppression Unit executed a court-approved search warrant at the property in Wat Ket, Muang District, following reports that the rented room was being used as a base for the “Chok Charoen” gambling website. The site was allegedly offering multiple forms of illegal betting, including slots, casino games, online gambling and football predictions.

During the search, officers found a 29-year-old man from Nan Province, identified only as Phumjai, residing in the unit. A computer with peripherals and a black iPhone 16 Pro Max were seized, both of which showed access to the online gambling sites in question. Police also found electronic files and livestream records linked to advertising activity for the gambling operation.

Investigators said the websites hosted several categories of illegal gaming services, and the seized equipment contained evidence of content production for promotional campaigns. According to police, the suspect admitted he worked for both gambling platforms creating images, video graphics and promotional messages. These materials were then distributed via an official Line OA account set up to communicate with customers.

He told officers that he received a salary of about 18,000 baht per month for the work. Police reported that the two sites together had more than 5,000 members and a monthly turnover exceeding three million baht. The livestream content discovered in the digital files allegedly formed part of the wider promotional strategy to attract online bettors.

Police said the operation appeared to be well-organised and had been functioning quietly within the condo building, using professional-grade equipment to manage and promote its illegal services. The discovery followed intelligence reports suggesting the room was being used for gambling-related activity and prompted the judicial request for a search warrant. Officers said the raid had disrupted a key promotional element of the operation.

Daily News reported that after questioning, police charged the suspect with “organising or luring, directly or indirectly, others to play online gambling through electronic media without permission”, under Section 12 of the Gambling Act. He was taken into custody for further legal processing. Investigators are now assessing digital evidence to determine whether additional suspects or administrators are connected to the operation.

Crime in the suites.

The upscale condos are full of Chinese.

Chiang Mai cops are playing a game of whack-a-mole that is becoming ever more comical.

Once gambling syndicates and scammers become entrenched and diversified it is almost impossible to get rid of them.

Be careful what you wish for.

This was not caught in an upscale condo.

Exactly.

This story gets replayed so often by the RTP that "whack-a-mole" is the first thing that comes to my mind as well.
