As I said, this is not for you, as there is a British car on the list................🤣

The first one I assume.  First guess was Italian. Never heard of it.

The others, American.

Is that how you chose your username, transam?  Your love of the (at one time) American muscle car.

I was under the impression your name was Sam who’s a transgender.

We all think that

In country (TH) only for me.   I'm air travelled out, after working for 4 different airlines, and abusing the flight bennies.  Before TSA & 2-3 hr check in BS.  Did 2 trips without bennies & had to deal with normal check ins after 9/11 .... HELL NO, ain't nowhere I want to go worth that hassle.

And not flying FC, nah, way too spoiled to sit in back of the bus 😎

Mother travelled a bit before meeting father, who was happy to live in hometown.   Even bought parents house, which I bought (first house), and threw his A$$ out of.

2 brothers travel very little, and just local domestic, USA.

1 brother, world class traveler, and been to almost 100+ countries.  Got way too much money & time.   Actually visited us this year, and said they're done jet setting the world.  Soon to be 73 yrs old.

If I am honest, I needed to ask a Thai question, so I quickly joined TVF, password, the first thing that came into my head was 'transam', because I owned a Pontiac Trans Am.

Later I did ask admin if I could change the spelling, they said no, I will lose everything, so I stuck with it.....

If you look at my profile page you will see my ol' Trans Am, my avatar has been a TA or the engine bay.........😉

After 4 years as a semi-pro muso, I joined a pro band in April 1970, age 22. In the following years I worked in Germany, Nigeria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, India, Nepal, Austria, there must be more!   Been above the Arctic Circle in Bodo, and almost to the equator. in Lagos. 16 years of travel, music and plenty of girls.

Drove from Oslo to Zurich non-stop, Cadiz to Winterthur also. And I am still here!

No, used to though not anymore. Have had more than enough, nowadays a couple times a year is more than enough.

There are a lot of people that fight through airports to get on airplanes to travel 18 hours to go through immigration, and fix up a ride through Thailand just to get where we already are.

I used to commute to work, for about 6 months, Udon Thani to Memphis, took 30 hrs, including the overnight at DMK, since arriving in late, and departing early.   Thankfully I was here, more than working, burning all my sick & holiday time.

I've been travelling internationally since birth .... Son of an RAF pilot, then travelling for work.  Lived/worked in 6 countries and visited about 40 other countries for work.

For years I was doing two international flights a week, so on holidays I'd just want to stay 'home' .... although 'home' was a moving target, as I worked out recently that I'd moved home 47 times so far, with Bangkok being the one place I've lived for the longest period.

I loved travel up until COVID, and while I still had to travel for work, it was such a frustrating bureaucratic hassle I lost interest and it became a chore.

Now I try to avoid international travel as it's a pain in the ar$€, but still enjoy road trips within Thailand.

As a young lad hitched hiked all over UK & Ireland ,when old enough to drive

got a van and me and my mates made several trips all around Europe.

As I got older one of my businesses was importing Tropical fish and Equipment,

that gave me the excuse to go visit collectors all around the World, Equipment

manufactures in Hong Kong, Taiwan ,Korea ,Malaysia, USA, New Zealand , Oz.

I am now 81 and have never been out of Thailand for last 5 years at least ,pleased

I managed to see so much of the World when I was young enough, there are only

two places left I would like to see, Madagascar and Easter Island, I know I probably

wont ,but it's always good to have something left to dream about.

Paying a woman to pretend to love you. I'm not as sad as you.

Yes absolutely I find traveling to be an absolute Joy, but I've come to the conclusion that off-season travel is the only way to go. I will trade ideal weather for the ability to avoid crowds anytime.

Spend a month last year traveling around Italy and France and it was fantastic. I prefer travel that has a bit of a theme, so on this particular trip the theme was fine wine.

We spent a month touring the areas around Rome, Tuscany, (Brunello and Chianti), Piemonte (Barolo and Barbaresco), Southwest France (CDP and Gigondas), Bordeaux and Paris. As a side not, in my opinion Bordeaux has the least value amongst those areas relative to quality, and the only ones worth drinking were $75 and up, so the lowest QPR.

I think you are out of your depth with this one..................😒

At the time between us in the UK, we had a 1971 6.5ltr Vauxhall Firenza, 1955 Chevy 6.5ltr, 1973 5.8ltr 'blown' Camaro and a 1976 6.8ltr Pontiac TA.

Anything else I can help you with......?   :stoner:

"1955 Chevy 6.5ltr" ?  Is that a diesel engine? When I was in high school I had a 1957 Chevy with a Pontiac 389 engine with 3 deuces, almost killed myself. I wish I would have shipped a muscle car to Thailand before Thailand prevented it. So do you have a muscle car in Thailand?

I've travelled to maybe 50+ countries and of course live for many years in south-east Asia.

Which country was the best and the worst experience?

My mom and dad were reasonably well-off.  In their retirement they could afford to travel throughout the UK and overseas.

But they never did, preferring to grow old and die in the city of Leicester.

My 2 older brothers are both considerably richer than me. Yet they too never travel outside the UK.  No trips to sunny Spain.  No long-haul trips to the dens of sin in Bangkok.  They just stay at home and grow old.

Me, I'm the 'black sheep' of the family, only managing a post grad from London University, not Cambridge like my brothers 🙂

I've travelled to maybe 50+ countries and of course live for many years in south-east Asia.

Why don't people who have the finances and time to travel not do so?  What is there to look back on when on one's deathbed?

Unlike many here, people often have no desire or curiosity for adventure of far flung lands. They like the familiarity and comfort of home. Finances play only a small part, as many can travel on a shoestring budget. They still don't do it though.

These 50+ countries you've visited, were they for work?

You were licky to be a Australian politician and have us taxpayers funding your 5 star holidays...oh sorry ..."study tours "

I'm not huge into traveling around but every once in a while I'll leave Thailand to go to other coutries like South Korea, Vietnam, Bali, etc.

This is especially true when it gets really hot/humid here in March/April.

For example I'm going to Brazil in March will return in May.

Bad luck for you  ...I can honestly say I have never worked a day in my life

Funny how travel gets criticised the most by people whose passports are still factory-fresh. Travel is great for you - maybe the real issue is that some folks haven't had a holiday since Nokia was king.

My friends have the time and $$ to travel but they don't want to now, because between the cons that were 9-Eleven and Convid 19teen, it killed all the joy of travel, especially long haul flying.

But even domestic travel by air is much more a pain now than in, say, 1998.
