Trump Presses Thailand and Cambodia on Ceasefire Commitments

Featured Replies

US President Trump is urging Thailand and Cambodia to honour their ceasefire commitments amid renewed conflict along their borders. The White House announced Trump's expectations to hold accountable any violators to stop the violence and ensure lasting peace.

Recent tensions escalated after Thailand's leader vowed to continue military action on disputed areas, ignoring a ceasefire brokered by Trump. The dispute flared again as Thai fighter jets struck Cambodian targets, despite assurances from Trump that he had arranged a ceasefire with Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. However, Anutin denied any such agreement.

Additional diplomatic efforts from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, involved in mediation, proposed a halt to hostilities. Anwar, as chair of ASEAN, urged restraint and announced the deployment of an observer team to oversee the situation, with the US providing satellite support. However, Anwar Ibrahim dismissed the suggestion of an agreement, insisting that talks are necessary before any ceasefire, reported THe Nation.

Cambodians and Thais exchanged heavy weapons fire for several days, marking one of the fiercest clashes since a previous confrontation was halted by US intervention. Following a landmine incident involving a Thai soldier last month, Trump remains keen to revive the peace process.

Key Takeaways

  • Trump calls for adherence to a ceasefire between Thailand and Cambodia.
  • Malaysia proposes an observer mission to oversee conflict areas.
  • Recent skirmishes mark increased violence since the last major clashes.

With what authority? I feel really sad for the people of the US to have such a demented, delusional clown at the helm.

Well done Trump. Good to see him bring the full force of his moral authority to secure peace and demanding that agreements already signed are actually honoured.

Sad that Thailand and Cambodia have to be reminded to honour agreements already signed, but there we are.

Like most, few take any notice of your hero Trump, just biding time to get everything back to normal....:coffee1:

But, at least didn't use the 24 hour gaffe with this 'war'.................:whistling:

We know this makes you look bad Don, as you were in a terrible rush to announce your latest success, however even though you have quite a bit of egg on your face this is entirely on you. Cambodia continues to make trouble and you are the worst negotiator on the planet, so just shut up and try to do some good work for your nation. Is that even possible? Perhaps it's time to interrupt your grifting in order to do something positive for your country.

More "authority" than you'll every have, if he can being peace, then we should back him....you have no chance to bring peace  you're far too insignificant.

If you watch the Thai Foreign Minister speak(he speaks fluent English) he seems to not care what POTUS does or says.  The only lever POTUS has is tariffs.  That only goes so far. At this moment the fighting continues.

I think the term "authority" is not correct.  The question is "what influence does the USA have on Thailand or Cambodia besides the threat to raise or lower tariffs?".

If only he didn't feel the need to wear Asian makeup to make his point.

What you say if true, and it´s good that you used if he can. The fact is that he´s is not liked here and considered insignificant for the job of bringing peace.

So, the result is that I understand that I am too insignificant, and will not even try. He on the other hand, do not comprehend, and really believe he is God´s greatest gift to humanity.

Ok, now go wipe that little water behind your ear off. 😂

Who gives a stuff what the clown say’s. His motive is to avoid admitting the fact that another of his peace agreements has been broken and him being seen as failure in fulfilling the role. Just like his complete ineptitude in the peace process in the Ukraine war.

Shouldn't it be 'full force of his immoral authority?'

After all he is a convicted felon and sexual assultant.

Yeah, and very sad that his only weapon will be tariffs. Both Cambodia and Thailand can survive without the US. He´s a sore little blob, that think he can exploit the world as he wish. You are going to end up as a loser, when the majority of US population understands how f-ked up this man is. Just take a good look and count how many wars the US has been engaged in.  All for getting some access to natural resources.

And how much real peace has he brought to the world so far?

Not what he has claimed to have brought, but real lasting peace anywhere?

One thing for sure, he has caused a lot of grief for many,  especially for those living on the edge.
