Let's look at 45 and 47's "inheritance"

From Obama:  4.8% UE and GDP Growth

Trump left Biden: 6.8% UE and a Recession

Biden left Trump:  4% UE, 2.8% growth and 2.3% inflation

Trump has take this and made: 4.8% UE, 3% Inflation and likely negative growth.

The crybaby is, was, and always will be a disaster.

Don't know what Trump said, as don't follow MSM, but AI seems to agree with the premise, some prices have come down, and some considerably.  Others far reaching and may have a longer positive effect: petrol & home interest rates, saving 1000s of $$$$ over a 30 yr mortgage. (see savings below)

List has all things I would use or eat, if living in USA :coffee1:

Those housing costs can't be right.

AI said the average 30 year rate in December 2025 was 6.19%, which apparently was 12% lower than January 2025, when the current Administration assumed office. So AI thinks the rate was 18.19% in January 2025.  Yo'd have to go back to 1980 to see such rates.

Using AI is fine, but be aware of its propensity for hallucinations. Hallucinations are when AI presents a statement that sounds credible, but is actually completely wrong. Most of the time the issue i because AI has confused the sources. It might have confused the January rate with some other number, relating to a different product or even country. AI might also draw from unreliable sources. I've noticed some are using Reddit as a source, where you could have some nitwit claiming mortgage rates were 20%. He's wrong, but AI doesn't "know" that. AI responses can be manipulated.

That's not really a problem if you review the sources cited; did it understand the source, was the source relevant, was the source reliable.

For understanding consumer inflation, there are official tools that use standardised "baskets of goods", based on large scale surveys. You don't need to use the AI. AI has its uses to aid research, but its made us lazy.

And some numbers need contextualising. The 44% fall in the price of eggs was because of a spike in prices due to a widespread avian flu virus wiping out flocks. The fall in prices is basically down to the good work of vets, and farmers in managing their businesses. When chickens get the flu, we don't hang around waiting for them to get better. The entire flock is either gased with CO2, or more commonly in the US, ventilation is shut down (suffocate them). There is an 18 week delay from hatching a chicken to egg production. Prices peaking in March is inline with maximal decimation of the national flock, due to an epidemic. Supply fully recovered by September, sounds reasonable.

Sometimes these monthly numbers mean nothing; there are events going on completely out of the control of the politicians. An animal disease outbreak, a shipping delay due to a typhoon, unususally hot or cold or wet or dry weather etc.

Whats more useful is YoY shifts. Quarterlies are useful as directional signals, but the annual numbers are more indicative of the impacts of policy.

The Master of Brand & Marketing !

He didn't bring up the assassination attempts at all in last night's address, like he did in his great inaugural address. The speech was  focused on  the year's achievements ,border security, falling prices, military bonuses, etc. and looking ahead to more wins in 2026. it had an upbeat, forward looking holiday message.

Brilliant.

Lol! Trump inherited a good economy from Biden, and it's getting worse under Trump!

The only significant price which decreased is the price of gas, and it's due to OPEP. Despite this significant external influence, inflation did not decrease compared to 2024. Oh and food inflation actually increased compared to 2024, despite Trump promising to lower grocery prices from day one! 🤣

Unemployment decreased under Biden, and increased again under Trump! In particular, the number of manufacturing jobs decreased, despite his promises. 🤣

Trump lies, just like he lied during his campaign!

What rot. How was the Biden economy any good? Markets were buoyed up by massive debt increases and most jobs were mainly needless public sector posts at the trough.

Facts aren't fluff unless you're part of the trump bloat world following.

And the covid effect in the economy and inflation  had more an impact on Biden even when they were initiated by Trump.

Biden left Trump with 2.3% inflation? You can swallow that bull if you like but don't expect the rest of us to.

Biden spent more money even after most of the direct Covid expense was paid in 2020.

Gas prices comin down , crime stats in DC comin down despite systemic progressives  fudging the numbers (police cheif). Border invaders at a historical all time low. The  drug cartels losing big money & we found that the left are sympathetic to their survival .

In the President's speech he  nailed it again.

"In the end, government either serves the productive, patriotic, hardworking American citizen, or it serves those who break the laws, cheat the system, and seek power and profit at the expense of our nation. Look at Minnesota",

The last time Minnesota had a GOP Governor was in 2011.

The Minnesota  fraud scandal grew to possibly $18Billion since 2018 & still under assault .

Google ai overview:

"Ongoing Investigation: The $18 billion figure represents the total claims data for the flagged programs, and the exact amount of fraud is still under investigation and audit".

In his bizarre, lie-filled speech the other night, Trump delivered it like he was on an airplane, in heavy turbulence, the seat belt sign on, yet increasingly suffering from the 'seafood medley' dinner choice that didn’t agree with him. He has to go. Bad. Flight attendants won’t let him get up, while every second that seafood medley wants out the back door. The drum beats faster and faster as what's inside threatens to blast out, decorum and civility be damned.

Oh the irony of systemic progressive states, like Minnesota.  New  Term ,FRAUD TOURISM !

Trump may have inherited a mess (but I doubt it), but he has certainly created a disaster which will take decades to repair.

With important government services collapsing and the billionaires getting richer and the cyber companies increasing their control over more and more aspects of daily life, how long before morons who voted for Trump realize the great con-man has won?

In a few years/decades most of the USA population will be in poverty - no social or medical services - and the tech billionaires will be in control.

This mess has existed and has been growing and compounding since at least 2008 - this disaster you talk of will probably be unavoidable, whoever is in power. I knew that the left would try to pin this all on Trump but I don't  think you'll get away with it.

Biden presided over more unnecessary additional load onto total US debt than anyone, and now Blue states are being run into the ground economically, through over-regulation. Chevron and others have shifted their corporate business HQ's to Texas, and Phillips 66 and Valero have closed their Cali refineries. This trend will mean fuel shortages and so much higher gas prices in the Pacific West (if you can get it at all).

How long before those who voted for the likes of Biden and Newsome realize that it is they who are the real morons?

Try as I might to sift through Trump's wild hyperbole and outright lies, I can't quite make sense of the supposed disaster he inherited, nor was I aware that the US was 'dead' under Biden.

I look at the numbers.....growth was higher under Biden, employment much better, inflation when Biden left lower than today.

Yes, Trump has kicked out many undocumented workers (employed by the Donor Class, who are apparently above the law), but the vast majority of migrants working were employed harvesting crops, dressing meats, and doing housekeeping and kitchen work in places like Mar-a-Lago and Bedminster. I don't see MAGAs rushing to fill those strawberry picking jobs.

So what did Trump fix that was wrong? MAGAs like higher UE? Lower growth? Higher food prices? Lost medical care?

I don't have any prescriptions, but I might get some now, as Trump says he's going to pay us for getting them. There is no other way to parse "600% drop in prices". I guess that will be beer money, when I get me some of those Trumpian prescriptions.

I do remember that despite the US' faults, it did try to be a force for good in the world, with large amounts of foreign aid for such things as food and medicine for the less fortunate. That's all gone under Trump. Generosity is dead. So, too, is the US' reputation. Trump demands credit for stopping the non-existent war between Cambodia and Armenia, but he's doing his level best to start a war with Venezuela. We have to take his word for it the hundred plus people he's killed on boats were actually running drugs, despite the fact those small boats with a dozen passengers probably couldn't even cover Donny, Jr. sniffle habit nor the previous heroin addiction of Trump's Health Tsar.

Trump's Carnival People Administration, in just the FBI, fired centuries' worth of institutional expertise in rooting out terrorists, stopping terror acts, infiltrating organized crime, going after serial killers and kiddie fiddlers, all because they didn't vote for Trump. The effects of that will be felt over time. I know the agency has also lost centuries worth of expertise and many of its most productive officers, who have left both the agency and many also left the US. The US has also lost almost all of the liaison relationships it had, because nobody trusts Trump, whether that's MI6, the BRD or Japanese NPA. Five Eyes is now kind of blind. Maybe Judge Cannon found no fault with Trump's theft of classified documents, but foreign intel services do.

I am of the opinion, based on my own anecdotal evidence, that respect or admiration for the US has tumbled since January. In my travels, when folks ask me where I'm from, invariably their response is "WTF is going on with that guy?" I have seen polls where the opinion of the US has sunk to new lows, in stark contrast to even a year ago.

So maybe some up to speed MAGAs can educate me on why the US was "dead" until 20 January. Personally, everything I liked about the US and was proud to serve it is dead now, but it was alive and well back in December 2024. I would never serve again. I have friends who became---in Trumpian vernacular---suckers and losers. Well, Never Again. Let MAGAs put their bone spurs on the line hitting the beaches of Venezuela...or maybe Canada or Greenland.
