A domestic violence incident involving a Canadian family in Phuket prompted a police response in the early hours, leaving two children injured and their mother hospitalised. Authorities said neighbours alerted police after violence was reported at a private residence, leading to immediate intervention to protect the children and secure the scene.

Police were notified at about 00:30 on December 21, 2025, of an assault at a home on Sai Yuan 11 Road in Rawai, in Phuket’s Mueang district. Officers from Chalong Police Station attended the scene and found a six-year-old Canadian girl injured inside the house, according to police statements.

A neighbour, identified only as a foreign national, told officers he had taken the girl’s 13-year-old brother to Dibuk Hospital after the boy sought help. The boy reportedly said that their mother had attacked him and his younger sister inside the family home.

At around the same time, police received a separate report from a Good Samaritan concerning a foreign woman with self-inflicted abdominal injuries who was behaving incoherently. Patrol officers detained the woman, later identified as a 45-year-old Canadian and the mother of the two children. Officers inspecting the residence found knives believed to have been used during the incident. Blood stains were found throughout the house, particularly in a downstairs bathroom where police said the injured six-year-old girl had hidden.

Police coordinated with the Khaimuk Centre to transport both the injured girl and her mother to Chalong Hospital for treatment. Authorities said officers are monitoring their medical conditions and will conduct further questioning once both are medically stable. The incident has highlighted the role of neighbours and bystanders in alerting authorities during emergencies, as well as the coordination between police, rescue workers and medical services. Police said they are also working with relevant agencies to provide appropriate assistance following the incident.

Investigators have not released further details about potential charges or legal proceedings. Authorities said the focus remains on the welfare of the children and the medical recovery of those injured. Khoasod reported that police indicated that additional updates will be provided after questioning can take place and assessments by relevant agencies are completed. The case remains under investigation by Chalong Police Station.

Nothing about the father?

As a reflection, apparently the stats concerning divorce rates and thus single-parents is extremely high in Canada. What the heck is going on in The Great Woke North these days!                                                                                          Of course this story will likely have several layers of complexity leading up to such a sad and violent outcome for those kids to have experienced.

It's Thailand, so it's quite possible that the mother was (over-) reacting to something the father had gotten up to ... SE Asia can be a challenging place for western couples to make a successful go of it. Lots of temptation, especially for the man.

No excuse for attacking and seriously injuring the children.

Nope. You'd have to be shoehorned into one of those 22 sqm Lumpini shoeboxes, paying 9,000 baht a month just to pretend you have a kitchen.

My condo is on waterfront next to lakeshore loblaws. Would you like to see a picture? A comparable condo in bangkok would be 20 million baht which is a lot more expensive.

Don't compare your junk Thai condo full of bugs and mold to normal living.

According to Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) data, the median square footage for new condos built in Toronto since 2020 was just 616 sq. f

Bangkok does have luxury high end condos.

The equivalent might be bare bones in Toronto compared to a condo with bunch of fancy amenities in Bkk. No comparison. You are being disengenuous to justify your move and make Thailand look bad.
