So, you actually didn´t care about the cities. All these threads, just to cover up your urges.

Chiang Meh is the most over-rated?

  • Well done putting Chiang Mai on top, definitely the best one.

THe pollution in the city center is horrendous all year.  I lived there 20 years ago and it was even worse but it is still a dump.  When the burning season starts it is literally hell and this can last 4 months.  What about the wonderful traffic.  It can take an hour to get into the city from the ring road(1.5 k). The rats love the place and I have never seen bigger rats anywhere.  Rats love filth...

TOTTALY AGREE!!!

The place has gone totally WOKE since they tore down the wall of the old city!…

It’s just one $HITHOLE of a city!…

Please no one else move here!… :coffee1:

You have always struggled with English. Go do a course.

Lamphun works for me.  I know like one other farang in the Tambon.  <laughs>

Phangnga City. Stunning setting in valley between towering mountains, authentic, not touristy, great restaurants, nice parks, clean air, maybe the cleanest town in Thailand, close to Phangnga Bay and half way between Phuket and Krabi.

Agree, Phang Nga or Krabi (not town) would be 1st & 2nd choice if I ever moved.  Really like Phang Nga, and we pop in every time when doing a southern loop.  Landscape of both provinces is the best TH has to offer.

If daughter not at Krung Thep, we possibly would be there now.  Actually heading that way soon, next week or month.  Probably there 6 times this year.  South is our 'go to' when not home.

So hard to decide. According to G Maps / Timeline, I visited 415 cities in TH, and only 1 in Laos, the past12 years, since using G Maps. Stayed at 270 different hotels, and sampled 359 different food vendors.

Means 145 didn't require a hotel stay, so within 200 kms, of where ever I was living at any time, from Udon Thani or Prachuap Khiri Khan. PKK for instance would include, Phetchaburi, PKK & Chumphon provinces, along with Udon's neighboring provinces.

And that's less than half the time I've been here. I was O&A quite a bit, first few years here (2000 onward), before wee one started school, and during the 3 months of school breaks.

Been 12 years since I re-entered TH, @ Vientiane / Nong Khai. Prior years, used to pop out every 90 days, either to Laos or Myanmar from Ranong (on school breaks). Since not extending in country prior to August 2013.

Amazing what G Maps Timeline keeps track of, informative, but scary, if concerned about privacy.
