January 1Jan 1 Popular Post Tuberville blasts Mamdani for using Quran in swearing-inTommy Tubervill Alabama Sen.Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville has attacked incoming New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani for choosing to be sworn in on the Quran, calling it a sign that “the enemy is inside the gates.” Tuberville made the remark on X, sharing a New York Times story about Mamdani’s decision to use multiple Qurans for his ceremonies.Mamdani will become New York’s first Muslim mayor. While many elected officials choose to use a religious text during their oath of office, there is no legal requirement to use any book at all. Nevertheless, the choice has triggered strong reactions across the political spectrum.Republican Rep. Mike Lawler criticised Mamdani not for religion, but for his policy agenda, which includes a citywide rent freeze, free public transport and free child care. Lawler argued these proposals amount to socialism and warned such systems have failed globally. Dutch right-wing politician Geert Wilders escalated the rhetoric further, claiming the oath was “invalid” if taken on a Quran.Despite the backlash, Mamdani has remained focused on his progressive agenda, thanking New Yorkers who backed what he calls a fight “for working people.”Sen. Bernie Sanders, who is set to swear Mamdani in, praised him for defeating both Democratic and Republican establishment forces, saying his election shows what organised working-class movements can achieve. The controversy reflects a wider culture-war clash in US politics — balancing religious freedom and pluralism against rising hostility toward Islam in public life. Mamdani’s swearing-in will be historically significant regardless of the criticism, marking the first time New York City has elected a Muslim mayor.Key TakeawaysTommy Tuberville condemned Zohran Mamdani for choosing the Quran for his swearing-in.Critics also attacked Mamdani’s progressive agenda, calling it socialist.Bernie Sanders will swear Mamdani in and praised his grassroots victory.SOURCE: THE HILL

Muslims have their Allah, and as portrayed and presented in the Quran he is not the same God for Christians. Christianity holds that God was revealed through Jesus Christ and the Bible. Islam rejects this and holds that the Bible is not valid. More importantly the concept of God in Islam the same as the concept of God in Christianity.
January 1Jan 1 Islam is not outlawed in the USA and a person has every legal and moral right to be sworn in using the text. Tuberville is grandstanding for his planned run for Alabama Governor. And just why is he sticking his nose into NYC affairs, which is not in his purview of activity?2 hours ago, Woke to Sounds said:The god of this realm is the devil.Doesn't matter what stupid book you lay your hand on.It's all rubbish.Jeez Louise.Rubbish to you and we'll see if you hold that view when you lie dying. In the meantime, religious faith can help some people to be better and to find peace.
January 1Jan 1 One has to realize two things about Tommy Tuberville is 1) He's from Bama. I lived in southern Bama for a year and have never gone back 2) His greatest accomplishment before the Senate was that he was the head coach of the University of Auburn football team. This pretty much sums up old Tommy. I'm not fan of the NY Mayor but he is devout Muslim so using a Quran seems appropriate.
January 1Jan 1 This is his education: He attended Southern State College (now Southern Arkansas University), where he lettered in football as a safety for the Muleriders[8] and played two years on the golf team. He received a B.S. in physical education from SSC in 1976.[9] In 2008, he was inducted into the Southern Arkansas University Sports Hall of Fame and the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame.[10]
