A New Year staff party in Kiri Rat Nikhom district, Surat Thani province, descended into violence when a young male employee allegedly shot the husband of the company manager, leaving the victim seriously injured and prompting an urgent police manhunt. The shooting occurred late on 1 January during a private company celebration attended by around 15 employees, causing panic among those present and bringing the event to an abrupt end.

Police said the incident happened at a well-known private transport company branch located behind Krung Thai Bank in Moo 1, Tha Khanon subdistrict, Kiri Rat Nikhom district. The gathering had begun at around 7.00pm as a New Year celebration for staff, with Ms Su, aged 37, named as the company manager and host of the event.

At approximately 10.00pm, Mr Thirasak, aged 40, from Takuk Tai subdistrict in Vibhavadi district, arrived at the venue accompanied by his son. Mr Thirasak is the husband of Ms Su, the company manager and witnesses said his arrival led to a conversation with Mr Jiraphat, aged 26, an employee of the same company, outside the front of the premises.

During the discussion, Mr Jiraphat allegedly produced a firearm of unknown type and fired at Mr Thirasak, striking him in the torso. The suspect then fled the scene in a vehicle, taking the weapon with him, while shocked colleagues rushed to assist the injured man.

Ms Su immediately transported her husband to Kiri Rat Nikhom Hospital, where he received urgent medical treatment for his injuries. Police confirmed that the victim survived the shooting and remains under medical care, though details of his condition have not been publicly released.

Officers from Kiri Rat Nikhom Police Station, led by investigators including Pol Capt Siwat Phira-udomphatch, responded to the scene along with on-duty doctors and rescue workers. Authorities stated that preliminary inquiries point to a complex personal dispute linked to an alleged romantic relationship as the motive behind the confrontation.

Police have since coordinated checkpoints and search efforts in nearby areas to locate and arrest the suspect. Investigators are also questioning witnesses who attended the party to establish the full sequence of events and gather evidence for legal proceedings. Daily News reported that the case remains under active investigation, with police indicating that further charges will be considered once the suspect is apprehended and formally questioned.
