A violent confrontation erupted after an amateur football match in Pattaya, involving players and supporters from two local teams. The incident occurred on 6th January 2026, in the Moo 10 area of Nong Prue. Video footage of the brawl went viral, showing participants from both sides engaging in mass fighting on the artificial turf.

The altercation took place between the teams "Khai Khem" (Salted Egg) and "Super," part of an 8-a-side local league. Tensions had been increasing, fuelled by social media exchanges before the game. According to referee Prasert Wangweng, there were pre-match warnings and aggressive play on the pitch, adding to the charged atmosphere.

The referee, 62-year-old Prasert, noted that he warned both teams any violence would halt the match. Despite efforts to maintain control, he was caught in the melee, injuring his knee and stepping back as the chaos unfolded. Later, talks with elders led to a peaceful resolution.

Players were seen hurling punches and kicks in a dramatic display that alarmed onlookers. The football field manager confirmed the involvement of both players and supporters, but the precise cause of the conflict remains unclear. Discussions took place after the clash, leading to a calm dispersal.

Referee Prasert expressed his disappointment, emphasising the damage such incidents can do to the sport's image. A long-serving figure in Thai football, he reiterated his hope for the game to progress positively, free from violence. No severe injuries were reported, apart from Prasert's knee injury, reported The Pattaya News.

Key Takeaways

  • A major brawl broke out post-match involving players and supporters.

  • Pre-match tensions and social media disputes preceded the fight.

  • Resolution was eventually reached after mediation on the field.

That pleasant placid Thai nature is on the wane...... they are beeping their horns more too!

Horn beeping is an invitation to violence at the next red light. I was confronted by an irate Thai, several inches shorter than me; several kilos lighter than me for this offence.

I almost added a "salty egg" to my lunch yesterday. Fortunately I demurred.

How come America doesn't have a Baseball or Football team named the Salted Eggs?

When I read 'mass brawl' I assumed that would mean at least a hundred, something EPL in Europe match fans could appreciate. Imagine my disappoint when it was just teams and supporters... and 8 man teams at that. C'mon lads, get a brawl going that you can be proud of. This barely qualifies as a 'dust up' 🥊

Mass brawl? Surely not at the world famous "Family Friendly Resort"! :-)

Until they meet outside sometime.

That's usually when they pull out a gun or machete. 🙂

The biggest punch up reported so far this year in Pottaya and not a farang involved, how refreshing.

Pity the Dim Thais, (good name for a footie team that!), can't actually learn to kick a football properly, as well as they can kick out at each other.

🤔🤣

Where is Gianni Infantino when he's truly needed?😂

Looks that the stupidity and violence of football fans is something global and no longer a UK exclusivity.
