Is japan like Osaka on same level as BKK?

Featured Replies

On airbnb i see appartments in Osaka even cheaper then in BKK? Is it reall? Because I want to visit Japan for a month or more after I am done with Thailand because it will get super hot.

Has somebody any experiecne? And is Osaka the place to go for more affordable living?

Been to Japan many times and mainly Osaka.

Stay Airbnb every time.

Prices increased years ago when gov had huge crack down on short term rentals.

However there is zero issue in using Airbnb in Japan.

I'm Oz which is a very nice country and hypothetically if I could not live in Asia or AU then Japan would be my choice in a blink.

Wonderful country and people.

Note for others: be aware that Thai pp holders are visa exempt to Thailand for stay of up to 15 days.

Note also that for the 15 day count day 1 is day AFTER you land.

(unlike Thailand)

It's definitely real. While Bangkok used to be the clear winner for budget travel, BKK prices have risen while Japan's yen has been relatively weak lately. You can find very clean, modern Airbnbs in Osaka for the same price as (or even less than) a condo in Sukhumvit. Osaka is definitely the spot for affordable living in Japan, it has a much better cost-of-living ratio than Tokyo and the food is actually cheaper and arguably better. Just keep in mind that while rent is comparable, things like transport and eating out will still be slightly more expensive than Thailand.

I just don't understand why somebody would go to Japan and want to eat junk hamburgers.

And if they do want to at least make it a Mos Burger. But my point was clearly to show some price comparison between the countries, although not successfully as the poster seems not able to do the calculation.

You think you've got a problem!

I can't even understand the title of this item.

I think he was showing an example, one that most everyone can relate to...not advocating eating at a McDonalds.
