An elderly woman was found deceased on January 12 at her home in Soi Ngamwongwan 8, Nonthaburi. Her loyal dog, Hippo, prevented initial access to her body, resulting in a unique rescue effort. The 77-year-old was discovered face-up next to a bathroom with her walking cane nearby, after officers and rescue teams responded to the scene.

Approximately a decade ago, the woman adopted the stray dog, who was deeply attached to her. She chose to live alone with Hippo, despite her family's invitations to move in with them. On the day of the discovery, family members became concerned when she did not answer their calls, prompting them to seek police assistance.

Rescue worker Weerayut Phetkaemthong recounted that the dog blocked entry to the house. To resolve this, a team member climbed to the second floor to lure the dog away. Once Hippo ran upstairs, the pathway was secured, allowing medical staff to enter.

The medical examiner found no signs of struggle, suggesting the woman likely died of natural causes related to an existing condition. Her body was later returned to her family for ceremonial rites. This incident highlights the profound bond between the woman and her pet, reported The Thaiger.
