Tories defecting to reform party

Featured Replies

“Kemi Badenoch has sacked Robert Jenrick for “plotting in secret to defect” from the Conservative Party.

The Tory leader said she had been presented with “clear, irrefutable evidence” that the shadow justice secretary had been planning to quit her top team.

The Telegraph understands that the Tories found a copy of Mr Jenrick’s resignation letter.

The Tories claimed Mr Jenrick had dined with Nigel Farage last month, and that he had discussed defecting to Reform with at least two allies.

Mrs Badenoch said: “I have sacked Robert Jenrick from the shadow cabinet, removed the whip and suspended his party membership with immediate effect.”

Nadhim Zahawi is an even bigger concern. Nasty piece of work. Accepting all these "converts", including the Green, can't be positively promoting Reform. But then as long as they promise to lick Farage's a-hole, he'll accept anyone.

Just another hypocritical nasty Tory who will lick any a-hole needed to fuel their ambition / greed. And a Chancellor who couldn't even pay his own taxes properly. Another man of integrity and morals joins the party of zero integrity or morals (or policies).

My word, and Jenrick - another upstanding nasty hypcrite jumps. No backbone, no shame, no moral standing whatsoever. He's upset about the immigrants though, innit.

Jenrick said the government had allowed a "million migrants to come here" in what he called "the greatest failure of any British government in the post-war period". Right on. Except he was immigration minister in the Tory government. So what did he do then? Nothing. Sickening hypocrisy, and a disgusting array of slime joining Farage.

It was both laughable and nausea inducing to listen to Jenrick preach about putting nation before self in his deflection speech as he is the embodiment of naked self-interest.

I don't often agree with Kemi Badenoch but she was spot on describing Jenrick as, "Nigel Farage's problem now". And problem he is. He may well want to see Nigel Farage as PM, but only because it is a means for Robert Jenrick to fill that position soon after. Watch your back, Nig.

The 'problem' also has another dimension. Whatever one thinks of Reform, to date they have been able to legitimately market themselves as 'a party of change' untainted by the failure of the government. That won't be possible if they keep accepting failed Tory ministers into their ranks. It will be a more a case of, "Meet the new boss, same as the old boss".

It's not surprising to see Reform's poll numbers declining and if they continue to turn into the Tory party mark 2, they'll go even lower!

A Laura Kuenssberg interview with Jenrick is available on BBC Sounds or the Newscast podcast. Interesting listening.
