It is when the "drugs" can be a toxic combination of chemicals. These vendors are a nuisance and a blight on the city. They are there because no one in the policy or city admin cares.

I fear when they might sell fakes, heaven knows what could be in them. Vapes moreso of a concern. But I still feel the article is a storm in a teacup..... until some thieving brat tries to have your zippo away I suppose.

Have some heart! They can´t have time for everything. The police are too busy trying to find prostitution in the city.

They're not licenced. Thought this would be pretty obvious.

Arount the NANA Bts in Bangkok, it's as bad with all the African drug peddlars and pimps, openly operating.

What’s wrong with the bus service from Bangkok to Pattaya? In my experience totally reliable, always bang on time, heaps of leg room, crazily cheap. Way better than long distance buses I use on my European holidays. I’m talking about the bus from Suv airport to Jomtien - haven’t used the Ekkamai to North Pattaya bus for a while, but I never found anything wrong with that either. If you don’t like buses, you can catch a taxi for a small fraction of the price you’d pay in Europe for the same distance.

You make good points of course. I was alluding to the lack of working seat belts, some basic maintenance failings and some crazy driving (not necessarily the bus drivers). The frequency and convenience is very good in my opinion. I normally use Ekkamai to North Pattaya. I normally prefer buses to taxis.

This has been going on for decades. Police must be in on it, since they are not stopping it.

As we have been informed by Thai Politicians … prostitution does not exist in Thailand. So this being the case, they cannot be busy finding something that is nonexistent.

This story sounds hopelessly naive. Sale of these products represent Pattaya's image. They don't tarnish it!

“damaging the city's reputation as a prestigious tourist destination.”

Stopped reading after this sentence in the opening paragraph. Clearly the article isn’t really about the Pattaya that exists in this universe.

Any foreign male living in pattaya is probably a big epstein fan. All that bs about the beach and the cost of living and culture and the weather. If anyone hears you live in pattaya, they should automatically assume you are there for the prostitutes and highly suspect of doing worse, like epstein level stuff.

I really do struggle to accept that Pattaya has a reputation as being "a prestigious tourist destination"

I live in Bkk but had to go to Pattaya regarding my visa

I retained One Stop who are based in Pattaya who were great

Unfortunately their Office is on Soi 6 so I had to go along Soi 6 on several occasions

All I can say is that "prestigious tourist destination" were the last words on my mind as I fought off many ladies and lady boys- all of whom clearly needed to go to an Optician given their all calling me a handsome man!

Selling cheap rubbish on Beach Road is not going to lower the tone of that road at all from what I saw in my 3 visits to Pattaya

I wouldn't have an issue 'splaining to my kids the counterfeit medicines.

But those lime green foot long dildos... That's not family friendly.

Do me a favour - what is Pattaya famous for?

Tarnishing the reputation of Pattaya or burnishing it to a bright shine.

That's quite a leap you made there, buckaroo! I can only assume it's a confession!

hey google ....Core Attractions

  • Vibrant Nightlife: Pattaya is world-famous for its nightlife, particularly on

    Walking Street

, a neon-lit red-light district filled with bars, nightclubs, go-go bars, and live music venues.

They won’t enforce anything as long as they are sat in Wonderful Bar all day playing on their phones.

They’re are not a police force, they are a joke.

Tourists and locals are raising alarms over the open sale of sex stimulants, sex toys, and illegal cigarettes along Pattaya Beach Road. Without proper tax stamps, vendors blatantly display these items without fear of legal repercussions, damaging the city's reputation as a prestigious tourist destination.

Thailand has many organisations that could stop this overnight.. but this is Thailand.

somebody gave a thumbs down ??

ok try this one a popular family friendly destination when you can bring the wife and kiddies to such places as Soi 6

and see the hard working ladies ( lots of them on the beefy side ).. so scantily clad

selling adult beverages to grumpy old men ( also lots of them on the rotund size especially the mid section )

and the high end Indians getting picked by the L/B's ( transtesicles) the bus loads of chinese all you can eat shimp .... and the

shall I point out more ?

I’d bet not many tourists have been “alarmed” about this at all. If there wasn’t a demand do you think Thai’s would waste their time trying to sell them? A majority of those who go there are single males who go for one reason, sex. Its reputation is known throughout the world for it. In fact many have probably purchased products to aid their experiences whilst staying there. I know a lady who has a large collection of toys and is very proud of them and her dexterity in using them, it was quite a show, better than you’d see on the strip.

This article appears to be no more than a “nothing burger” and if anything just highlights that the local plod aren’t doing their jobs to the standard the locals expect. What many need to consider is how many rely on these tourists for income directly or indirectly, it’s a long list. It only highlights the absurd belief by authorities that prostitution doesn’t exist in Thailand when so many are involved in it in hubs like Pattaya. Imagine the income they’d make from tax if it were legalised!

The news reporter that started this story must be a very young virgin that visited Pattaya for the 1st time and thought she or he had a scoop and had just discovered Pattaya was a a den of sin. thieves. Plus the cops did jack sh..t, unless they made money.

Obviously it's got SFA to do with the topic of the original poster, yep.!

OMG ... can there be a more ridiculous idea than people 'clutching their pearls' because of ... "Pattaya's Image"

You forgot the "Family friendly" part of that, which is exactly why it is so prestigious, don't you know! Wouldn't want the children to see cigarettes or candy that's only for mom and dad....

Not just cigs but blackmarket cigs. Guess it does have something to do with the OP.

What is this "image" they keep referring to, sex made pattaya what it is today, hardly a world class beach with crystal clear waters. Few sex toys don't give it a bad image the tens of thousands of prostitutes sort of do that
