How does the story go from being found in the bedroom having been beaten- to being found at the foot of his tall building

Never underestimate the determination of those who want a person dead in the far east

Some years ago I instructed a QC( now KC of course) to represent an alleged gang leader in Hong Kong

At the last minute I was unable to fly there as I was taken seriously ill

The QC spoke to me on the phone and said there was no issue with him appearing without me

The case started the next day. On the 2nd day the QC and I spoke at length and it was clear our Defence strategy was working well

The following evening after court the QC called me from the hotel, we went over the case and he then said he was going to have a meal, swim in the hotel pool and get an nearly night

He was found strangled in the hotel pool later that night

The HK Police investigated the case carefully and told me they knew who did it but could not prove it

Another gang wanted my client convicted as with him out of the way it would be easier for them to move into my clients perceived territory

We were doing a good job that proved our clients innocence so the gang killed the lawyer - easier to get to than the client who was remanded in custody of course

Not making any allegations here of course- but in LOS we know strange things can and do happen often
