Short term parking and…

Featured Replies

It’s several years since we picked anyone up at the airport. So friends are due to land at 6:05 pm on a Sunday evening.

Was wondering what time should we get to the airport and which short term car park to use.

Arrivals are 2nd floor I read, is there a designated meeting point after they exit from customs …thanks for any info

Use car park 2 or 3. 3 would be my preference and it's likely you'll have to drive up, down and around for some while to find a space. Arrivals (international??) is level 2 and the meeting point is between doors 3 and 4. International arrivals are not likely to emerge earlier than 1 hour after landing, unless they are fast track?

My wife regularly had to pick me up at Suvarnabhumi.

She would follow the flight on flight tracker to know the up to date flight arrival time.

She would aim to arrive in the airport area at flight arrival time.

She would usually stop and wait in one of the airport petrol stations.

When I got through immigration I would call her to come pick me up.

I would go to the arrivals floor (level 4?) and wait outside entrance 9 for her to pick me up (entrance 9 as at quieter end of arrivals).

Worked well and saved the hassle of going in the shortterm carparks.

Best way will be to get local Thai SIM's from AIS or True. If they have dual SIM phones they can just add it alongside their UK SIM, otherwise swap out the UK one. A 30 day Tourist SIM will cost around 1000 with unlimited data. Cheaper options will exist if they can be bothered to look for them.

Alternatively they can add e-SIMS for Thailand before they leave and activate on arrival. Or worst case they can roam on their UK contracts but will cost a small fortune.

There are so many little telephone company shops/counters in the airport. On the walk from the plane to immigration. Inside the baggage collection area. When the depart the traveller area and enter the main part of the airport on the ground floor.

Any of those shops will sell them a package for a month and put the sim card in for them.

There's many. Google it. I never used it other than when arriving on business class. Someone recommended me "Bangkok Airport Limousine" which costs from 1299/person.

And while I think about it, make sure they do their TDAC! Thailand Digital Arrival Card

Thanks ...we are picking them up ... we have about a forty minute journey (Sunday Evening) from our house to the airport. Thought when we 'see' the plane near the airport we would set off and that would be OK if they are not using Fast Track.

TDAC...i guess that they know about it but will check ...tks

Normally I would say your 40mins idea works, but it all depends on how busy it is in immigration.

Not been possible for 4 years so worth checking but unlikely.
