A POV in Europe about Trump / WEF in Davos Switzerland

Featured Replies

No, they have a website.

And there are "agendas" on their site.

The meeting at Davos is not a cocktail party.

If they want to party, they will have orgies on their yachts. This is political.

What difference does that make? Various world leaders have come to a locale to talk about various world trade issues. Do you believe that they are there to talk to the officers of the WEF rather than with each other? That the WRF somehow dictates what these world leaders talk about? That the issues featured weren't planned in advance in consultation with various governments?

Well who cares? It's decided somewhere, maybe not at the WEF meetings.

Listen to Carney's speech. He is talking about the "end of the world order" and a "new world order". So that means alliances that exclude the US.

But regarding Greenland, it just came to my attention that Trump tried to make a deal with Denmark in his first term to allocate resources to increase military protection over Greenland. But Denmark didn't do it. So I guess now Trump decided to take over because Denmark doesnt have the resources for military defense needed. So it's not as nefarious as the media is making it out to be.

And here, he is saying it's beneficial for Europe as well.

Yes, Carney was talking about a new order. Not a referral what right wingers talk about but the fact that Trump has ruptured the ties that used to bind western democracies. So, of course, these western democracies have recognized the drastic change that Trump has created.

In fact, The US has a treaty with Denmark dating from 1951 that allows it pretty much free rein to do as it pleases in Denmark when it comes to defense. So, no, the US doesn't need to own Greenland in order to defend it. I'm guessing you believed Trump when he said that the US was going after Venezuela because of drug trafficking or the fact that it was a dictatorship when, in fact, his real motive was Venezuela's oil. Same kind of thinking applies to Trump's real motive for trying to grab Greenland.

Considering Nato is involved here and the US already has a military base there and can expand there, your guess can not be correct. It's about resources.

The real reason for Greenland?

(or one of ... there may be several )

Seems like tech billionaires are behind it. Not sure if this article is putting an overly negative spin on what they will do there, though. Cannot fully trust any media source ...

https://responsiblestatecraft.org/trump-greenland-billionaires/

But they stop short of examining the forces that may be actually driving the minerals agenda: tech billionaires like Peter Thiel and Elon Musk, who see Greenland not just as a source of rare earths, but as a laboratory for their libertarian economic and social experiments. These tech-billionaires envision unregulated “freedom cities” in Greenland, free from democratic oversight, environmental laws, and labor protections.

Maduro was a useless cartel thug, too corrupt and stupid to extract most of the oil and do sth productive with it. And keeping his people in misery while sitting on all that unextracted oil is unethical.

I'm not a fan of exploiting smaller nations. Trump has promised to take care of the Venezuelans and I do hope they get their piece of the pie.

But one analyst has pointed out that that oil reserve will have monumental implications. It will be used to power the AI revolution and will put an end to inflation and drive the cost of living down. Let's see what happens.

The moron made himself ridiculous with numerous lies, in front of a well-informed audience! 🤣🤣🤣

Fact-checking Donald Trump's Davos speech

The US president made a series of contested claims, ranging from the status of Greenland to Nato spending.

The door was only the leader of a corrupt band of thugs who still rule Venezuela. In fact, Maduro's number two person, Delcy Rodriguez, was praised by Trump as being a "terrific person."

And while it's true that Venezuela ran down his oil facilities, it was the United States that kept them from extracting the full amount they're run down infrastructure could still extract.

And given thatthe same thugs are still in power, your hope that Trump will take care of Venezuelans is bizarre to say the least

As for the oil reserves in Venezuela having monumental implications for AI, why? First off, as has been pointed out before, Hugo Chavez decided to arbitrarily raise Venezuela's proven reserves from 100 billion barrels to 300 billion barrels

Secondly, even if there were any additional 200 billion barrels of Venezuelan crude in proven reserves, how would that affect the AI revolution? Very little electric power is generated by petroleum. It's a lot more expensive to use than coal which is more expensive to use than renewables. or natural gas, which is also now being supplanted by renewables because they're more cost competitive. Most new electric power coming online in the world today is coming from solar and wind because they're cheaper.

Fact-check of key claims in Donald Trump’s Davos 2026 speech
NB Fact-checking all claims is prohibitive due to space considerations.
Tested against public data, law, and historical record using ChatGPT 5.2, and verified by Perplexity 70B.

Economy / Inflation
False
Inflation ‘defeated’ (headline CPI ~2.7% late-2025)
Gasoline under $2 nationwide (national average about $2.84 — 42% higher)
Fastest economic turnaround ever (Q4 GDP ~3%, well below post-war rebounds)

Misleading
Core inflation cited as 1.6% (short window; core ~2.6%)
‘52 market highs = $9T household gain’ (market cap ≠ household wealth)

Unsupported
$18–20T investment in one year (FDI ~$500B range)
1.2M off food stamps due to Trump policy (normal economic churn)

Government / Budget
False
Deficit cut 27% in one year (closer to ~10%)
270,000 federal bureaucrats removed (no evidence at scale)
Largest tax cut in US history (2017 far larger)

Trade / Industry
False
Trade deficit slashed 77% (monthly volatility misused)
Exports up $150B due to tariffs (increase much smaller)
Steel output doubled (increase ~15%)

Energy
False
Germany down 22% electricity (generation broadly stable)
UK producing one-third of 1999 output (mix shifted, not collapse)
China has no real wind power (world’s largest installed capacity)

NATO / Greenland
False
US paid 100% of NATO (≈16% of common budget)
NATO now spends 5% of GDP (target remains 2%)
Greenland is US territory or must be owned to defend

Elections
False
2020 election ‘rigged’ (rejected by courts, audits, agencies)

Crime
False
Crime at historic lows (down from peak, above 2019)

AI / Technology
False
US leads China ‘across all measures’ (US ahead in models; China near-parity in patents/benchmarks)

Bottom line:
Key claims rely on exaggerated numbers, cherry-picked windows, or unsupported assertions. They do not survive basic verification.
If a claim is factual, cite it and support it with data — not belief.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

well i've made my feelings regarding the insidious WEF perfectly clear , and having predictably been called -: a joke, a nazi , Too stupid, living in a different universe, A "conspiratorialist ?" A violent Nazi, and presumably I'm also included in the "forlorn loser" category, a phrase coined by a member to describe all those that disagree with him

And I'm the one "deflecting" when I have the cheek to retaliate!

yet i did not criticise or insult anybody except the WEF and its dr evil look alike Klaus Schwab. until the usual "tolerant" leftists started calling me nasty names... again

I'm close to tears , boo hoo

not at all, if people want to call me names that's absolutely fine, they should not be surprised when i return the compliment, and neither should third party observers who sanctimoniously like to scream "deflection" or "off topic" at my retaliatory comments.

To set this clear. YOU started ranting about the banner hanging in Davos with:

  • Another idiot

  • pathetic insult

  • halfwits

  • Trump needs to send a couple of fully loaded F16's to Davos...

After that I gave you some FACTS about sending F-16 to bomb Davos.

But you were unable to give fact-based answers. Your brainless ranting went on.

In Switzerland we have the speach:

What you call into the forest, and so it echoes back.

but none of my initial comments were aimed other members nor did I insult any members, I am perfectly entitled to criticise dreadlocked unwashed lefty protestors, if you include yourself in that demographic I apologise

Of course I cannot provide "fact based answers" regarding the logistical difficulties of attacking Davos with F16s, Did you not realise that i did not actually mean for it to actually happen? In the same way that trump did not actually mean that people should drink bleach.

Your insult: "Trump needs to send a couple of fully loaded F16's to Davos if he picks the right day he could rid the world of many of the real tyrants, might even waste Starmer too"

If you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.

TACO was definitely served. Being American these days must be SO embarrassing.

'Trump’s latest TACO moment puts his increasingly erratic temperament in the spotlight'

https://edition.cnn.com/2026/01/21/politics/taco-trump-greenland-davos-tariffs

"Within hours Wednesday, Trump flipped from demanding “right, title, and ownership” of the semiautonomous Danish territory to celebrating an “infinite,” “forever” framework deal over its future.
And there’s no sign he’ll return home from the World Economic Forum in Davos with the deeds to a vast, icy land on which he can plant the Stars and Stripes. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said on Fox News that the question of Danish sovereignty over Greenland didn’t even come up during a meeting with the president that will bolster the smooth Dutchman’s reputation as a “Trump whisperer.”"

No wonder those who consume the otherworldly drivel served on Fox, and other "alternative facts" news sources, have no clue what's really going on. They probably actually believe Levitt's claim!🤣
