Four people were injured after a homemade explosive device detonated during a domestic dispute at a house in Bang Lamung district, Chon Buri, in the early hours of 25 January. The explosion caused damage to the property and left all those present with injuries ranging from minor shrapnel wounds to severe hand trauma. Emergency services rushed the injured to hospital amid panic among nearby residents who reported hearing a loud blast.

The incident occurred at around 00.15, at a single-storey house located at 46/1, Moo 14, Soi Thung Klom Tan Man 29, Nong Prue subdistrict. Rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation and officers from Nong Prue Police Station were dispatched after reports of multiple casualties caused by an explosive device. At the scene, authorities found four injured individuals, two men and two women, suffering from shrapnel wounds, bleeding and hearing impairment.

The injured were identified as Mr Christian, a 27-year-old Thai–Norwegian man, who sustained a serious injury to his left hand from the blast force and Ms Patcharida, aged 23, who suffered facial injuries from shrapnel. Two friends, Mr Anuwat, 21 and Ms Supaporn, 21, sustained minor injuries, including ear ringing and light shrapnel wounds. All four were given first aid before being transferred to hospital for further treatment.

Police investigations revealed that the group had been drinking alcohol together at a marble style table outside the house before the incident. According to Mr Anuwat, an argument broke out between Mr Christian and his wife over jealousy issues, linked to the man’s work in Norway. During the dispute, Mr Christian allegedly produced a homemade explosive device to threaten his wife and slammed it onto the marble table, triggering the explosion.

The blast damaged the marble table damaged two window panes and left bloodstains across the walls and floor of the house. Officers recovered fragments believed to be parts of a Thai-made improvised explosive device, including a yellow drink carton suspected to have been used as a container. The area was secured,p and forensic officers were called in to collect evidence and determine the exact type of explosive used.

Mr Christian’s mother, Ms Dao, 66, said she had earlier warned her son about excessive drinking and was unaware he possessed any explosive materials. Police have documented the scene and stated that all injured parties will be questioned once medically fit, as authorities continue to investigate the origin of the device and prepare for potential legal action.

There are a few lessons to be learned from this numskulls behavior. First of all when making an improvised explosive device at home never slam it down on a table in anger, it's just not a good idea.

Second, try to engage in adult discussions and arguments, as communication can be an incredibly effective tool in resolving underlying issues.

That is how some explosives are detonated with a smaller charged explosion.

By looking at the broken marble table, blown out windows I would say it definitely had potential to do deadly harm. The shockwave has potential to do harm as well.

Anyways with a mangled hand I'm pretty sure he learned a valuable lesson. This is one way the military would identify enemy explosive manufacturers, they were usually missing a finger or two.

That was my immediate reaction too

I assume it takes time to make an IED - so surely any anger would have had time to dissipate whilst constructing the IED?

What - you don't have a domestic bomb for use in household disputes? Guns are so last year.

This guy definitely knows how to make a boring evening unforgettable. Real DJ.
