Selling my hybrid car in Thailand. Advice please

Featured Replies

I have a high end hybrid 5 years old. I paid 2.3 million 5 yrs ago and will be lucky to get 1 million now when selling. Ive put a vinal sign on the rear of it and already had one phone call.

It has a slight ding on the right side right under the door but one cannot really see it actually. I obviously have first class insurance. Should I ask the ins company guy to come and assess and get approval for this claim now and proceed with selling it. Or do nothing. The ins policy will transfer over to the new owner.

The 2 rear tyres have a manufacture date 11 months ago. The front tyres are really old and need replacing. It will cost me 15k to replace them. Should I do this or let the new owner do it?

thanks

When you state 'hybrid', what does that mean, PHEV with larger battery, enough for all daily local driving, 50-75 kms a day, Or HEV, with battery simply to run electric motors.

Since 5 yrs old, probably not LFP chemistry, in which case, expecting anything around 1M sale price might be a fantasy, as 1.5M buys a lot of new EV now. Non LFP chemistry good for about 1000 cycles.

Although I hear, there is one born everyday.

If the insurance is going with the car, then let the buyer decide whether to fix the ding, as it will show as a claim in his name, not yours, maybe.

If it’s a Merc or BM you might get 750k for it if mileage is reasonable. Replace the front tyres, you probably won’t get anymore but it will help sell. Find a company like Dent Master ..probably cost you 2000thb….thats my opinion, but I’m frequently told that my opinion isn’t worth …..

If you Google …paintless dent repair or something like that you should find a few companies that remove dents without having to repaint.

What is your time frame?

Who does your insurance allow to do the work?

What size are the tires? Are the front tires just old, or are they warn out? They can't that old if the car is only five years old.

Sell it for the best price you can get for it, as is, and walk away.

Why throw good money and time at a depreciated, and further depreciating asset?

WOW…. 5 years, Tyres will be rock hard and stopping distance will be much greater than when new and ride very firm.
